Cracked was a great map for tomahawks. Check out this dome shot I got when I was actually aiming instead of just chucking it into the distance.

I used to play sticks and stones a lot to get good with the ballistic knife and the tomahawk. If you can get good with the tomahawk it might not have the deadly blast radius of a grenade but you can pick it up and use it again if you go to the dead body or have scavenger and run over another dead body.
