Been awhile since we've had a D in Detroit that could actually stop teams. It's been a sight for sore eyes. Credit must be given to Austin and co.

Yes, very refreshing indeed. This team looks much more built to go deep in the playoffs than the fluky playoff team we had in '10.

This success will come with a huge price tag or cause the fan base huge turmoil. Suh is the force behind it with the rush making the back end better. I still do not want to overpay a stupid amount for him. He leaves and this fan base will erupt for sure.

I truly can not tell you what he is worth? 15 yes, start going 16 and more IMO other areas suffer cap wise for his payday. Defense included...

All those stats are awesome. The one I do love is 1st downs on penalties. It is showing some discipline within the coaching ranks I feel. Caldwell has not been overly impressive at times sure. Him and his staff have had some effects and that stat shows it.

My second would be 10th against the pass. I did not at all see that coming. I figured more 20th range again at best.

Wow. First in both scoring D and points allowed. That's impressive.

Amen to that. The part that scares me -- the tremendous success the Lions defense has had with virtually the exactly same team in past years will draw a lot of attention to Austin if/when a head coaching position opens.

I would hate to see someone come in and take him away from us. I have never enjoyed watching Lions football games more than this year with the defense we have. Scoring points and a high octane offense is entertaining, but a smash mouth defense that beats up QB's and shuts down RB's is much more satisfying to watch

In suh I trust. If he leaves after this season it will majorly suck.

Even worse if Austin does as well.

Odds are about the same for both IMO. If Suh goes, I think Austin's odds of going, go way up.

I'll say, two more seasons of this production and Austin will be given a shot as HC. He's approaching 50 and already has the attention of GMs/ADs along with the endorsement of Caldwell. He's simply building that resume right now (only his 2nd gig and 2nd year as a coordinator) and doing a damn good job of it.

I don't think there's a DC who's more deserving of an interview. Throw in the Rooney Rule and he's goi g to have to turn down interviews. And I don't know why anyone would do that.

Not to make a case for the sky falling, but Im worried we won't have the chance to get used to this defense.

He's done a remarkable job. Best we enjoy his work while we can.

Offer him an assistant head coach/head coach in waiting position to show him dedication.

Rowdy gives a tap to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (9) as he walks off the field after losing to the Detroit Lions 34-30, Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Cowboys Stadium.

One of the greatest NFL photos ever. Cowboy fans still crabby.
