Yes our secondary sucks but age has caught up with Fletcher and Riley just plain sucks
Why do you say Riley sucks?
Really? We must be watching 2 different games. I thought he was one of our bright spots on D. You need to factor in the scheme called when some of the big plays happen. Hasslett blitzes him quite often.
LOL I have to agree, it always seems country is watching a different game than I am. Having said that the defense was bad over all. I agree that I thought Riley played well, maybe country is blaming him for not covering a wide receiver when the safety covered the wrong guy.
It does seem like the Redskins have suffered from tackling issues at the start of the last two seasons. I think it has a lot to do with the lack of tackling they are allowed to do in preseason and during the practice week. Even my boy Reed who is normally a sure tackler was letting guys slip away. I am going to hope and believe this defense will improve just as it didi last year.
He can't cover and sucks at tackling
oh. Then it must be true.
he wasn't bad...we have alot more to worry about on defense then Riley and Fletch
Back in the Disney days I saw a lot of people demoting guys who have played for three guys who have never played a down in the NFL. I have hope that two of these three will be good football players. Being a good player in college and the NFL are two very different things. Communication on the field seems to be a mess right now and especially in the backfield.
I neither love nor hate Haslett. I just think he is a whipping boy much like Reed Doughty has been over the years. People want someone to blame so they blame the coach or some player that most designate as a whipping boy. My one question for Haslett might be why has this team started so slow two years in a row? Is it talent evaluation? Why are there so many communication breakdowns? It might not be his fault but those would be my questions.
Whipping boy? He is the defensive coordinator. If he is not going to either 1.) develop talent 2.) make adjustments or 3.) produce effective results what good is he? I am certainly not saying that he is the sole reason for the problems, but if he is not going to make a major difference then why not consider a change?
You mention the slow start last year. Umm - it was not as if it was a few games - it was over half the season & even later on they had issues - they just overcame them with turnovers & the offense. Also - if the personnel is the issue - especially the younger players - no doubt Haslett had a big hand in selecting these players.
Perhaps it may be a kneejerk reaction to get rid of him this week. However - I really don't see much issue in dumping him midseason if problems like these persist. All of the issues you mention are directly related to coaching & should be a major cause for concern.
Eventually - probably not this season - we should demand a defense that can keep it reasonably close so that if/when the offense sputters it simply means being tied or slightly behind - not digging out of 20+ pt deficits. That is inexcusable.
I will give him the benefit of the doubt, but my patience (along with the patience of most of the fan base) is wearing thin.
I am not happy with the Defesne Obviously.....however balming Hasslett for missed tackles and bad communication is not really the thing to do.....Now, if you want to balme him for calling a bad game...then by all means...blame him....Do I like seeing the corners off the receiver 7 yards....Nope.....Do I think thye need to get in thier face and jam them, make it harder to get off the line Clean...Yep....and THAT is on him.....LAst year he was able to call alot of good games to mask the shortcomings of our defense....Perhaps he feels that the front 7 will do that for us.....I am not blaming the front 7, but aparently that isnt the case...Maybe he needs to start making those adjustments NOW!!!
I am not a fan of firing a coah in mid season, let alone after 2 games....After all....the guy that replaces him will ahve the exact smae players to work with...and who replaces him....Is he gonna be better??/DOnt know

I agree, I'm sure the coaches are going over there technique and angles, it's up to the players to work on it, if Rambo wants to be a starter in the NFL he better learn to tackle or it will a short career in this league, really sucks we couldn't get no one in FA cause of the NFL and that idiot Mara getting in our business.
There is enough blame to go around for everyone on defense. While I'm not calling for haslett's head (yet), he is part of the problem. First, he calls the scheme. Our defense has been out of position more time than not these first two games. That is coaching. Compound that with bad execution and that is how you give up 30+ points a game. Second, the coaches have to hold players accountable. Physical mistakes, especially by rookies, is part of the game. Mental mistakes need to be addressed. What the hell does it take to get these guys to understand that penalties are killing us. We had 4 personal foul penalties yesterday. That head but by Paul should be the last straw. Cut his ass and make an example of him. If you can't play smart, we don't need you. We had 11 penalties in all. Many are drive killers. These are mistakes that can be corrected just by using your head.
