Surprised Koekkoek got the nod over Witkowski, just thought with Witkowski being more experienced, providing some physicality and being a Righty shot, he would of been given "8th" defenseman spot on the team.

To be honest i'm not surprised Koekkoek made the team from a talent perspective because he's a former 1st round pick and is one of our best prospects but we have a deep blueline and I think he's not going to see a ton of playing time with being the "8th" defenseman. I know Cooper will play 7 D but I would think Nesterov is a ahead of Koekkoek for that spot. I think with Koekkoek being 21 it would of made more sense for him to plat big minutes in Syracuse and continue to develop rather than being with the big club and struggling to see regular ice time.
