I took Ohtani in the first and Trout in the second in both leagues I drafted in this week.

I am betting heavy on the Angels
I got Ohtani in the 8th roundlast night.

But he’s pitcher only in that league.

Lol, am I missing anyone? C'mon, let's talk some baseball!
Sorry, my baseball knowledge ends about 1984.
When they reinstate Pete Rose, i may consider a comeback.

I took him at 103 overall in my main league.
Add in my Yelich pick and I’m doubling down on risk in my OF.

Yelich is safer than bellanger IMO. Yelich is all about health. Bellanger might not be that good. Sometimes having mvp caliber seasons are the outlier. He wasn’t that great outside of that one season.

His first two years were pretty good too. Only bad after injury. I have faith

From what I understand, Bellinger's strikeout rate is off the charts.

Cubs? who's their ace?

I wouldn't say it's off the charts (26.9%), but it was much higher than it was in 2019-20 and the highest of his career (26.6% in his rookie year was his career high). And while it was above the MLB average (which was 23%). He also posted the lowest walk rate of his career and he did see a huge increase in his swining strikes (14.2% versus career 11.8%).

As for his batted ball profile, he posted the highest flyball rate (47.5%) of his career but also had a career low HR/FB rate (9.4%). Even if he doesn't match 2017 or 2019 (25.2% and 24.6% respectively), I think he can rebound to 2018 or 2020 (15.2% and 17.4%) levels. He did see a pretty big shift in his launch angle, going from a career average of 17.8 degrees to 22.2. Even though he was hitting more fly balls, they were being popped up for easy outs.

Anyone expecting 2017 or 2019 Bellinger is probably going to be disappointed, but I think he'll hit much more in line with 2020 and 2018 (113-120 wRC+). ZiPS and Steamer have him in that ballpark.

I'm glad to see the kids making the opening day rosters. Bobby Witt, Jr and Julio Rodriguez could be really good players. Witt has an idea what it is like to be a major league ballplayer and shouldn't have any trouble making the adjustment from the minors to the bigs. Rodriguez could struggle, but he has a lot of talent. We'll see.

Only baseball on my mind is the travesty of the rule changes. Very disappointed in what the MLB has become :(

DH?

I like it. No need of having .100-average hitters wasting dirt in the batter’s box.

NL pitchers finally have to work for their ERA.

I went the homer route and drafted Luis Robert in a couple leagues earlier than not. Not the first round. I'm not a complete blind homer, yet.

Big fan of Robert.

Big fan of a lot of the talent your Southsiders have. Kopech the starter will be fun to watch.

Sucks Crochet is lost for the year.

I don't think the Sox are going anywhere this year. I'm pretty surprised national media/baseball pundits are so high on them.

Robert and Giolito will be on the Dodgers/Red Sox/Yankees in the near future. The Sox are several years into a full rebuild and only have getting tea-bagged by the Astros in the ALDS to show for it.

Fun fact. The White Sox are in an embarrassing club of teams that have never handed out a $100MM contract to a player in franchise history. The other teams are the Royals, Pirates, and A's. The Indians/Guardians were on that list until they gave Ramirez that new contract the other day.

Cody Bellinger is a huge risk…
All signs point to continued demise. I’m banking on a return to glory.

Cubs will be terrible. I don’t expect a 10-game winner for SP.

Kris Bryant and Randal Grickuk will combine for 70 HR.

I agree about Bellinger but I picked him up in my keeper league since I was able to take two players because I finished last place last season so I am hoping he can turn things around!

Red Sox pitching is going to suck

My team is on the left. It's still very early obviously, but maybe my offense isn't so good.
