He's plowing through the minors at a fairly rapid pace.

Hope he plays well enough to force his way into the decision making process come ST.

Weren't you the one that told me he will not be in the bigs next year? Someone did when I made the comment about him having a good chance to make the team next year out of ST?

Re personal catcher. I don't care if Chris G is if he can hold his own. I do think one of our catchers should be top notch defensively. KC exposed that last year in the playoffs if I remember correctly.

On another note. It sure is taking Odor a long time to make it back

I believe this was me. Hey, and I still might be right too. ha ha

But seriously, he's certainly played, not just hit, better than I ever expected to date. At least by me.

I just don't want to see young guys get overexposed/over-burdened too early and it sets em back. The jury is still out if bringing up Gallo was the right thing to do or not.

I agree about the overexposed part, but he will be given the chance to win the LF spot in ST, IMO. I think Gallo took an ego hit and is having trouble dealing with it. I hope he gets back on track soon.

If I'm understanding it all correctly, Gimenez is considered a pretty good catcher/pitch-framer, etc. His avg is never going to be his strong suit.

Encarnacion drove in 9 runs today vs Detroit, the Jays won 15-1. That team is hammering baseballs and to think we could have taken 2 of 3 vs them
Just think. He was ours at one time. Doug Melvin decided he had to have Rob Bell though.

As it stands right now, I think you 100% right.

I don't ever want to deprive anyone their opportunity based on age or experience. If he earns the opportunity, it takes the decision making out in my mind.

Ya know, everyone wants to color Rua as the forgotten man, and I hope that's not true.

I don't remember who it was but didn't someone or more than one on this board say that Gimenez wasn't a good pitch framer a few months ago. I remember not long before Chris came up this year when his name was mentioned it was met with a lot of groans on this board.

I have never caught before, but is pitch framing that hard of a skill to learn for a catcher?

Do you guys realize the FUCKING Cardinals are going to be 83-46 in about 30 minutes?

KC could hit 80 W's tonight and no one else is even close to approaching this record.

I think the water in the state of MO should be tested.

I'm left-handed.....so catching was never under consideration.

But from having pitched in everything from LL, to American Legion, to HS, a little college, and finally the over 30 league, for 25+ years, I can assure you there is a lot to it.

I had a couple of guys who were absolutely terrific at it, and I can't tell you what a difference it made in my confidence.

That's all I know......lefty over and out.

I am sure it makes a big difference. No doubt about that. I just wonder how long it would take a guy who is ready for the big leagues in all other aspects to set down with an experienced catcher and learn that one part of the game from him. It seems like if you had a reasonably intelligent teacher and a reasonably intelligent pupil that it would not take that long to learn.

My baseball resume much the same as Don's except I caught and loved the position. Although framing certainly was part of a catchers responsibility, it definitely was not the art as is today

The most demanding, least appreciated position in baseball and it's not close.

Here's to ya Mr DT.....:usa2:

I'm just very grateful we beat them once.

I am not sure how the Cardinals are doing it. You go position by position and probably none of them would be the 1st team and possible backup at that position in the All Star game. You look at their lineup and say who are these guys. Even some of their pitchers who are doing great are not household names.

If Corporan and Chirinos were both ready to play again I would keep the G-man and let Corporan stay at AAA.
