After the nineteen inning marathon, you'd have to think someone from Indy might be making a 3,000 mile plane trip today (McPherson or Wilson) to start in place of Wandy.

The injuries are beginning to pile up, too. Snider re-injured himself, yesterday, and Marte was placed on the DL before the game. Maybe Presley will be San Diego bound, as well.

realistic: despite being banged up, out of synch rotation-wise, and coming off 19 innings and traveling across country, we will go 2-1.

pitching possibility tonite could also be a d mccutch, although the BP is spent and the longest he could go would be maybe 5. that would really tax the pen.

this might be one of those games where whoever starts has to go 7 no matter what just to give everyone a day off.

althouugh after just looking, cruz has thrown 3 days in a row and hughes 2. otherwise, the rest are avaialble, except resop who went 3 and for some reason, he didnt use watson yesterday.

The Padres took 2 of 3 in the Burgh. Petco is a different animal. Fortunately for the Bucco's the Padres have had so many injuries to their pitching staff it's mind boggling. Volquez will pitch tonight. He hasn't been very good in his past two starts. Richard pitched yesterday & has been their best pitcher this season. Fortunately for the Pirates they won't be facing him.

ESPN.com and MLB.com both show Correia as tonight's starter.

There's an article on the Pirate page at MLB.com, which was posted after 6pm today. The article states that:

- Correia will start tonight's game.

- McPherson and Wilson have been called up.

- To make room for McPherson and Wilson, Mercer has been place on paternity leave (as expected) and Juan Cruz has been designated for assignment.

pedro the only AB where he worked the count and battled.

probably wont wake up till 8th inning and will come up short.

both got their feet wet and the game was still relatively on the line.

I agree, the team did look tired. It was kind of the outcome I expected.

And I thought both Wilson and McPherson were impressive (or at least encouraging) in their first appearances.

More pitching changes today. Qualls and McCutchen in, with McPherson and Wilson out. That's a long trip for only a handful of innings pitched for the rookies.

i would take 5 of our AAA pitchers over qualls. he is a waste of a roster spot. lets let mccutcheon, leroux, slaten, reyes, wilson, mcpherson, morris, wood, vanderhuk, and meek.
why are we wasting time on qualls when we need to develop and evaluate people with way more potential.
sorry for the rant, but should have got more than qualls for mcgehe.
