The only way I'd be fine with fighting gone is if the NHL decides to do it themselves and not cave in from pressure from some idiotic public interest group or a network

Since my team probably has the fewest fighting majors in all of hockey, I guess I am forced to choose "Meh, whatever, I would watch with or without, it isn't really a big deal to me."

Hahaha, my team has the most. I guess I just feel that it's presence may influence players to do it more than needed. I love a good fight, but knowing the potential dangers...it's hard to say keep it. That and I never want to see Sid or Geno fight again.

Fighting has been a part of the game for over 100 years. Getting rid of it would be stupid. I think the media who want to abolish it are a soft bunch of pansies.

For those of you guys who oppose changing under the pressure of the media or "specil interest groups", would you change your opinion, hypothetically of course, if public health officials, physicians and scientists came out with an independent report linking fighting to long term health effects?

This report is far from forthcoming and would probably be decades from now when enough data is gathered, but....

No, I wasn't calling you out or anything. I was more faceplming myself for not having more options. I tried to be all inclusive and succinct in these three options. Finding the balance between the two can be a challenge.

Here's the way I look at it. I have ZERO control over whatever they decide to do so it's out of my hands.

I have watched and loved the sport for 50 years, the object of the game is to out score your opponent not out fight them. So if I stopped watching the game because they took out fighting I was never a "Hockey" fan to begin with.

Most of the greatest games I've ever seen NHL, Olympics, Juniors and College a glove never hit the ice. For those that say "it's part of the game" that's their opinion. Those great games I watched were complete great games and a fight in a game like the 1980 USA win would not have been more complete if there was a fight. So, Im not against fighting but don't see where an occasional fight that last 30 sec. should dictate if I watch the sport or not. JMO.

I think the NHLPA needs all the information and allow the players to make the decision. It's their sport, it's their health.

If people are truly concerned about the players health (short and long term) they should want sports to be non contact.

I took option two. I would watch the sport with or without fighting.

I took option 1 because I do like it but option also works for me I would still watch if it were gone.
