That wasn't an abberation. The Giants are one of the only teams who are more than capable of doing that to the Niners. It doesn't mean that they'll beat the Niners in the playoffs, but I think the Giants should be the favourites at this point. No reason they shouldn't be.

This one just seems like a game that got away from the 49ers. They are not as bad as they looked today; that was what I meant.

I agree with that. I think Alex over-estimated what he can do with a sprained finger. His velocity was even lower than usual today IMO. Alex made Drew Brees look like he has a cannon today.

To sum up what I said in the other thread:

We were due, every team lays an egg even the best of them, and this is only an issue if it starts happening consistently.

94 our last Super Bowl year we lost to the Eagles 40-8 so it's not a death blow to get trounced early in the season.

I agree although having two games like this one and the Minnesota one 7 games into the season is concerning.

I just hope the coaching staff will make the necessary adjustments and stop with the wildkaep crap, there is a place for it but teams are figuring it out and its not catching anyone by surprise. This Thursday night game is as close to a must win as we've had this season, We have to bounce back and go with what works for us.

This is a huge reason we lost today and will cause serious problems down the road if it doesn't change.

This is true, but the Giants didn't have much of a pass rush to day either. Alex had a ton of time to throw the ball.

Not worried about the defense.

I'm not too worried either at this point. They were on the field all day and given plenty of short fields. Them keeping the Giants to FG's kept the Niners in the game longer than they should have been.

at first when he had that bad throw to delanie for the 1st int, i thought it might be his injured finger. but smith made horrible decisions throughout the game.

if he has another game like that i will want kap to start...

The OL did well in the first half. They played much worse in the 2nd, but the entire offense, including the coaching staff, were really pressing by then.

Losing Staley didn't help, either.

ya it seemed like his velocity was bad. if smith is injured they need to sit him, even for a game or two. but with the way kap is zipping that ball around maybe smith is worried about his job.

If we're down 23-3 against Seattle and Smith has thrown 3 picks I can almost guarantee you'll see Kap.
