March 9th (Part 1: Non-tournament games outside of the Top 25)

A little warning: These posts are gonna be QUITE long, as we have not only more tournament games, but also the last regular season game for most power teams.
So Saturday's action will be in 2 parts. First, the games outside of the rankings that are NOT tourney games:

Syracuse @ Clemson (12:00) (The Orange can officially punch their ticket to the dance with a big road win... while simultaneously ruining the NCAA hopes of Clemson.)
Butler @ Providence (12:00)
TCU @ Texas (12:00) (One more loss, and Texas should be safely out of the NCAA picture!)
Saint Louis @ St. Bonaventure (1:00)
NC State @ Boston College (2:00)
Texas State @ UT-Arlington (3:00)
Arizona State @ Arizona (4:00)
Georgia State @ Georgia Southern (5:00)
St. John's @ Xavier (5:00)
Alabama @ Arkansas (6:00)
Dayton @ Duquense (7:00)
Oregon @ Washington (10:00)

American East Quarterfinals:
Albany @ UMBC (1:00)

3/12 recap

If UMBC wins the America East tournament, would the committee dare to match them up with Virginia again?

Well, UMBC did beat Hartford last night in double-overtime, 90-85. But if UMBC wants the Cavs again, they'll have to beat Vermont [who defeated Binghamton 84-51] on Saturday.
So, with the American East taken care of, let's look at everything that happen yesterday:

ACC 1st Round:
Miami over Wake Forest 79-71; will meet Virginia Tech in the 2nd round
Notre Dame over Georgia Tech 78-71; will meet Louisville in the 2nd round
Pittsburgh over Boston College 80-70; will meet Syracuse in the 2nd round

MEAC 1st Round:
South Carolina State over Maryland-Eastern Shore 63-54
Coppin State over Morgan State 81-71

Sun Belt 1st Round:
South Alabama over Arkansas State 75-67
UL-Monroe over Appalachian State 89-80

SWAC Quarterfinals:
Alabama State over Jackson State 58-49
Prairie View A&M over Alcorn State 86-66
Grambling over Arkansas Pine-Bluff 59-52; will meet Prairie View in semis
Texas Southern over Southern 80-70; will meet Alabama State in semis
WCC Final: Saint Mary's upsets Gonzaga 60-47 (Should the bubble teams be upset over this result, or not? I mean, the odds weren't good that the Gaels will get an at-large NCAA berth. On the other hand, a #1 seed might have been freed up.)
Northeast Final: Fairleigh Dickerson over St. Francis (PA) 85-76
CAA Final: Northeastern over Hofstra 82-74
Horizon Final: Northern Kentucky over Wright State 77-66
Summit League Final: North Dakota State over Omaha 73-63

And by the way, the Game of the Day today is NC State vs. Clemson (12:00) in the ACC Tournament. So on ESPN, expect a struggle at noon!
