Lerentee McCray

Hey Broncos fans, what can you tell me about Lerentee McCray who signed with Packers. Appears he was special teamer only with Broncos.

Curious if Packers brought him in thinking he can switch to ILB.

He played a lot the year we went to the SB and lost . He is a good player in run stopping just not all that good at putting pressure on the QB .. If he plays he is not a liability so much in that he get most things done just not a guy that has that burst you need for getting at QB's

Two years ago, McCray was one of my favorite players in preseason - I even had an avatar with his pic ..

He seemed poised to have a break out season, but got hurt .. He just never was able to stay on the field or put it together ..

He didn;t do much on special teams, which I feel contributed to his downfall here

I loved his potential and fire ... Not sure where he fits on the field for The Pack, but he is a dynamic player

Always injured. Injured in college, injured here. Decent depth at LB so can't hate that.

You could do a lot worse for sure. If he can stay healthy he is a quality back up that will show glimpses of being able to do something great. I wouldn't expect him to do much special teams wise though. He really didn't show up much for us in that area and when you are a back up linebacker really that is supposed to be your forte.

Thanks for the feedback... sounds like Packers taking on project they are hoping has something there.

Packers draft several projects in late rounds that sometimes flash (So´oto, Mulumba, Lattimore), but after a few seasons they are gone. Kind of expecting the same here.

He is a good camp body. Like I said he will show flashes that have you giddy about what he might do during the season. Then all of a sudden a freak injury happens that sidelines him for weeks and he just never seems to live up to what you thought he would be. For a back up though and my guess is the price was very cheap he is worth a shot.

Uhhh no he didn't he was on IR the entire year the year we lost in the SB.

@Tainthappening here are some of our thoughts.

ok depth guy, just hasn't lived up to what we expected when he first came. At UF he was an underachiever up until his SR year when he finally found his role as a pass rush DE. I thought he would be a great 3-4 OLB and he showed flashes, but never in games, and isn't a standout on special teams. I hope he does well for you. I like him being a UF guy.
