What in the world is going on lately?

I have never seen so many stars with torn ACL's, MCL's, ruptured Achilles, concussions, life threatening issues, broken bones, etc.

They have made this league so much safer than ever before with all the new rules put in place to protect players, equipment has gotten better and stars are dropping like flies. I mean, pretty soon this is going to be flag football to keep the lawsuits down.

football is a rough game, one reason why my older kid didn't sign up for 2nd grade season, he's just not mean enough and doesn't process his surroundings fast enough to lay a hit on someone before they hit him.

Couple of thoughts:

Steroids/supplements/other drugs..... Building bodies the wrong way can have consequences.

Change in training..... You can argue this in a lot of different ways. Players train way more than they did in the past. But they don't practice nearly as hard. Not sure which would have a greater impact.

Rosters are too small..... When you can only dress 46 players on Sunday, guys have to play too many plays.

John Conner is expected to get a few carries for the Giants Monday night due to the banged up nature of their backfield.

Quit making stuff up. There have been never lawsuits due to injury.

I've heard this talked about with injuries in training camp. The time frame doesn't allow players to come into camp, and get their "feet wet" with regards to getting ready for the pressure their knees and legs will take over the coming days with the added weight of pads. Just running and doing light agility drills for a day isn't going to get it done.

While many players train in the off-season, they don't practice with pads and added weights on while doing agility drills and such. The extra sudden added weight to their joints/ligaments poses a potentially hazardous effect. So, while they run and lift, they don't get a chance to ease their boddy into adding 10-15lbs of padded equipment. That's a lot of weight to add when you consider how fast these guys have to stop and change direction.
