Depending on the terms, this is another good signing for STs. If nothing else, we will have competition at ILB with some veteran players. Riley better watch out, We now have 2 or 3 other guys that will be pressing him for a starting role. No superstars, just a handful of quality depth. Remember, we also have Robinson coming back. If he is healed, he might turn out to be the best of the bunch.

Very good signing, as JY19 stated, there will be a ton of competition at that Linebacker spot. Sharpton, Riley, Jordan , and Robinson should make a pretty decent ILB core and Haslett may have a plan to rotate them all in certain situations. I like what we're doind so far on Defense.....if was to get the DT/DE Hageman in the draft, we'll be looking pretty solid. It's just our Safety position is a little undetermined right now, but hey, Meriweather and the competion between Thomas, Rambo, and Gumbs could suprise us. All in all we're making the right moves and competition can only make us better. HTTR

Does adding Jordan mean ILB is less of a need during the draft? I still feel ILB is a need we need to address during the draft but not before FS or OL then maybe ILB.

That makes it 5 ILB's. Plus a possible trade up for Mosely would make it 6. There is no way we keep 6 ILB's.

When two of those guys are coming back off of injury, you never know. If we draft an ILB, you can count on some one currently on roster losing their job unless its a very late round pick.

I just hope we still target Mosely in a trade up.

I don't see that happening now, dean. If we trade up, I bet it's for Clinton-Dix or Pryor.

But dix and Pryor are top 20 players. to get into the top 20 its going to cost us our 3rd round pick. We cant give that up. Why cant we trade up for Mosely now? The Jordan signing was only for special teams depth. I think from pick 25 on, if Mosely is there we can trade up and it will cost us our 4th round pick. We would be foolish not to do it.

I should have clarified. I only see us trading up if one of those guys falls out of the top 20. If not, we may go OL or WR at 34.

I agree if it only costs us a 4th. If we stay pat how could we not go oline? Its in shambles in my opinion. Guards are filo and Yankey. Tackles are Moses and Richardson(if he passes his medical). If we sign Britt I don't think we take a WR at #34. Guys like Moncrief and Bryant should be there in the 3rd.

The good news about what we have done in FA is we really have positioned us to go BPA in the draft. We filled many holes in FA, but none with outright stars. This leaves us with the flexibility to draft a real playmaker at about 5 or 6 different positions, which is exactly what we need to do.

:agree: The only reason to trade up into the 1st round is to acquire a guy to fill a glaring hole. Mosley will fix a hole but ILB after Riley resigned and with the addition of Jordan means its not a glaring hole. The only glaring hole is FS and that's why I agree with J_y that "IF" (shouldn't) trade up it should be for a FS only.

Jordan is not the answer at ILB. He is here b/c of Special Teams. I believe Dix and Pryor will be gone in the top 20 picks. It would be foolish not to give up a 4th round pick for Mosely. If somehow Pryor did slip to 25 then yes I would do a trade up BUT I wouldnt give up our 3rd round pick to do it . Same goes for Mosely. I would only trade the 4th round pick. Most mocks have Mosley going for 29-32 so the cost will be less to go get him. I think you have to jump Denver to get him. Dix and Pryor should be long gone by the 29 pick.

According to the trade value chart. Our 2nd and 4th round pick would equal at least the #28 overall pick of the draft.

Guys,. how can we simply write off a guy who has started over 40 games as not a possible answer at least short term as an ILB? I mean unless we are just that desperate to trade up for Mosely. If he is there at 34, sure run p and make the pick. But this team should not even consider trading up for ANY one at this point. We are still paying for the last trade up, and we were still paying for the one before that when we made THAT deal.

Time to break the cycle, draft well with what you have, trade down if the deal is good. But Im hoping trading up is off the table period.

Shark if we land Mosely we would have the best front 7 in the division.

Which tells me we would have a pretty good front seven without him as well. IM against trading up.

MAybe, but truth is we are not in a position to burn extra picks on a player. Like I said, if he is there fine. If we need to trade up, Im against it.
