He comes off as a sour grapes tool. Someone needs to advise him of this.

He's been done for a couple years now. He is currently asst. coach for the Concordia Cobbers baseball team in Moorhead who he used to play for. He seems to be enjoying it and will probably eventualy become head coach as the current one is getting up there in years.

Nice, good for him. Always good to get in a cool job in a city you're comfortable it. Doesn't get much better than that.

thats not the only thing. hes been running his mouth the last few days.

After Game 6 he said the Cards would win, and that even without Holliday, himself, and pujols they're a better team. he also said today that Pence's hit was illegal.

Where are you hearing/seeing all of this? Sorry, I'm just interested.

Berkman's definitely sour grapes here, but his point about the rotation is valid. If we were Tigers fans we'd be happily noting the same thing.

As usual it will come down to luck and breaks and the baseball gods, but you'd be crazy to think our rotation mess works in our favor.

Like sfsportsfan said, he's been talking a lot of smack. I guess because he couldn't play, he decided to talk it up.

Regarding our rotation, I think it may actually work out for us. The Tigers would probably prefer if we used our hottest pitcher (Vogelsong) or our ace (Cain) against Verlander. With the way it's set up, Vogelsong or Cain would start Game 3 and the other would start Game 4. Obviously he could change his mind, but Leyland has stated that he wouldn't pitch Verlander on short rest, meaning that JV would pitch Games 1 and 5.

On top of that, with the Giants having won 13 straight Zito starts, he's not a shabby option to go up against Verlander.

Don't kid yourself. Everyone is a shabby option to go up against Verlander. ;) I remain as optimistic as I have been all season, but beating that guy under any circumstances is nothing short of amazing.

I'm a delusional Giants fan right now who believes Zito will do well and that the Giants will hit JV like they hit him at the ASG. Let me have my moment before the Tigers make it all start crashing down tomorrow. LOL.

Bask in it, my friend. I appreciate your point of view, and stranger things have happened. Any team that can put up runs on Verlander deserves a pat on the back (All-Star teams included). :)

I loved Pagan's response last night when he was asked what he thought about facing a great pitcher like Verlander and how tough it would be. He responded by saying that, "He's facing a good team, too."

I see what you are getting at.

In 2010, the experts expected the Philth pitchers (Halliday and Oswat and Hamels especially) to be unhittable. And then no one was supposed to be able to touch Cliff Lee in the World Series, and no one was going to shut down that Ranger hitting attack. Well, we saw how that worked out.

Sincerely,

Ssory Doc

No, the 1931 was a former street address I used. Also, my mom was born in 1931, and she passed away in 2004. Yesterday would have been her 81st birthday.

At least I now know you can do simple math. Batting average, OPS, WAR, all that stuff has nothing on addition and subtraction!

Time for my nightly Ensure.

:bolt:
