Young unproven talent alone doesn't win championships. They need an experienced leader on the floor.

There's no point trading all the assets away, like Nick Young as mentioned in a previous post, for draft picks when leadership is what they really need.

Love me some Swaggy P, but he's not exactly the first name that comes to mind when I think about leadership.

I wouldn't go trading away all assets for draft picks, but getting a couple more draft picks wouldn't necessarily be bad either. Draft picks can be very valuable and can be traded for experienced role players to help the young guys learn, or packaged with another player or 2 for higher quality experienced players.

And those are the types of players that a team needs to win championships.

That would be a big lineup with Randle at the 3. Not sure he could defend well at that position though.

He seems to be working a lot on that jumper. He'll get there. Gonna be dangerous when he does. He'll blow by you if you have to worry too much about his jumper.

:agree: He has good dribbles, and speed when he attacks. He has that Lebron drive, and strength. Not ass athletic or good defensively, but the tools are definitely there. :suds:

The Lakers could have as many as 4 picks in the upcoming draft. I wouldn't mind seeing them go after Kevon Looney from UCLA or Cauley-Stein from Kentucky with one of their non-top 5 picks.

Cauley-Stein probably won't be available, but Looney might be.

Kevon Looney is a beast!

I didn't imply him to be a leader, but more of an essential piece of the second unit - when healthy of course!

I'd prefer trading Young & keeping Ellington.

We could get something for Young & Ellington has shown he can play.

And if we draft Okafor to go with Randle, get a SF in FA and start Clarkson with Kobe we can go piece together a bench with the rest of our salary cap.

Oh, it sounded like you were implying that. I agree with DJ though. Like I said, I love me some Swaggy P, but if comes down to a choice, I'd rather keep Ellington over Swaggy. He seems to be more steady.

It's tough to rely on Young, he's becoming a side-show. Since he's been here, the team has been terrible, so it's tough to tell how he would perform on a good team in crunch time. I have my doubts.

Becoming? The transformation was completed like 6 years ago. He's a full blown 3 ring circus.

He's also not a kid, he's closing in on 30.

Clarkson and Mudiay would be a great young backcourt.

Clarkson's showing he's going to be a legit player.

I could see those 2 being part of a 3 guard rotation. I think they would need a true scorer at SG as the third.

True, but it only seems to be getting worse (or maybe it's just that he's now right in our face with it as a Laker).
