12 team PPR, start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, FLX, K, DST

waited a bit too long, and lost out on Rudolph where I wanted him. Ended up with Ladarius Green, based purely on potential.

Last pick I took in the draft was James White, just for the outside shot he steals Ridley's job.

Would it be a wiser depth move to grab another TE to back up Green instead of a RB5 like White?
I've got good RBs already --- Lacy, Ball, Mathews, Gerhart

Heath Miller and Tyler Eifert are the best available TEs, imo.

lay it on me fellas!

I am in that same spot in 2 leagues, including MBBRL.

Based on Green's usage in the preseason, I think he has a pretty good shot to be a top 10 guy. I would feel completely comfortable starting him in week 1 against AZ (who was 32nd in the league against TEs last year) and then make a decision on whether or not you need another guy after we see his snap counts and how often he gets targeted.

For now though, keep that RB 5.

I'm a big subscriber to having a backup at as many places as possible. I have no faith in the belief of "There is always someone on waivers", because there isn't always someone.

I do think Green will be an okay choice, but I'd feel much better with an alternative on the roster before injury strikes some one else's TE's, or the byes begin. And of the guys you mentioned, Eifert gets my vote

Yeah, TE is a good pick against AZ and a couple of other teams. Green will likely be boom/bust all season. The Chargers have so many weapons that they'll likely be able to target teams weaknesses and some weeks some guys will do a lot better than other (Keenan Allen blowing up instead of Green against STL for example)

I mostly agree, but tight end and kicker aren't worth keeping a back up. I'd also argue that defense isn't worth it either.

There are too many TEs that "could" crack the top 20 to worry about backing up a guy who's kind of a flyer in the first place. Almost feels like taking a backup kicker.

Unless for some reason 25 TEs have already been drafted.

I don't see White doing anything. He failed my eye test.... although that's probably not important to anyone other than me :)

I can see Miller being closer to two years ago than last year.

I kinda love Miller this year with Wallace and Sanders gone. Miller will be Ben's security blanket, his comfort food, that old pair of boots that just naturally fits, that aged whiskey poured into a coffee mug, those girls in the bathroom stalls... and... touchdown.

Monkey I am not sure if this guy I am about to name is still available but he could be a nice play this year I am speaking of Mercedes Lewis of JAX. There are virtually NO wrs on that team and he is the only one with real experience. He could hoard all the targets in a wr challenge system.

^^^ See what I mean about all the TEs who could crack the top 20?

Not White (Belichick, remember?). Taliaferro or Alfred Blue.

I almost listed Lewis as well since he is available, but I still have Miller and Eifert over him, cause it's still the jags.

I also took a late round flier on Marquise Lee and landed Gerhart in the 6th - there just isnt enough room on my team for 3 Jags!

side note: I'm waiting for the Gordon suspension ruling before dropping anyone. Makes it a really easy decision if he gets the boot for the entire season.

I do exempt the K and D.. but I'd still rather have alternatives everywhere else if possible

I use my bench mostly for rbs and Wrs with one backup QB in The hopes that some of them break out.

Foot, you really need to cool down this love affair you have for unproven players on bad teams. Lewis may be Chad Henne's security blanket for receptions, but does anyone see the Jags sustaining drives long enough to rack up the yardage? I don't.

Jeff, the guy I'm probably taking a flyer on will be Richard Rodgers of GB, but only if he establishes himself as the starting TE over Quarless (which may come this week).

As for Ladarius Green... I like his upside, but as several others pointed out, it's hard to get excited over a guy who may share targets with the legend that is Antonio Gates.

and now this from rotoworld:

Ladarius Green's usage becoming a concern

Over the last two preseason games, Ladarius Green has played on just 13 of Philip Rivers' 28 snaps and seen one target.
During this span, Antonio Gates has played 26 snaps with Rivers and seen three targets. Gates plays in the majority of single-tight end formations, leaving Green with question marks about both snap count and role in the passing game. It's frustratingly similar to the issues he faced in 2013. At this point, we'd rather stash the freaky talent of Green on our bench as a TE2 than ride him as a starter. Gates won't go away quietly.

probably going to pull the trigger on Heath Miller. I'll drop Marquise Lee and stash Green for now, for the main reason Joe stated about Marcedes Lewis. I was down on Lee at first, then started warming up to him since he is running pretty much exclusively with the 1st team. But how many long drives will JAX sustain? Can't just plug in a player and pray for garbage time stats, at least not in week 1!

Okay this is what I look at for guys on my bench. What is going to need to happen for me to start that guy for a week? Even if White gets the rushing nod over Ridley, you still have Vereen stealing touches and all the passing downs. So let's say Ridley gets hurt. Are you still going to start White over any of your other 4 running backs? I wouldn't, so I would have no problem dropping him. Heath Miller would be a great pickup.
