So sad today. I wasn’t a fan of Kobe but I’m a basketball fan. I appreciated his greatness and appreciate what he’s meant to his fans and the game of basketball. RIP to a legend.

Yeah people die in all kinds of crashes every day, but only the famous ones get threads like this

some will call this insensitive, but not me. I agree. while I cannot think of another famous person who was killed in a helicopter crash I'm sure it has happened. And probably a number of times.

I'm sad because I've heard of Kobe but no more than I would be if I heard about anyone else killed in such a tragedy.

I get why this might be different, though, for Laker fans.

This is tough since some guys are close to tip but I'd cancel any late games. If I was a player, I couldn't even think of playing right now. Since most of them in the league are my age or younger, I'd say they all looked up and idolized Kobe just like fans like me did. No way I could go out there with the news this fresh. This sucks
