Now that he is starting, do you see this as an audition for another team? If so, what do you view his vaoeu as? Is he worth grabbing in my dynasty league?

Depends who you have at QB and bench space, but it's hard to imagine him cracking the top 15 QBs any time soon even if he's starting somewhere. You'd kinda have to be really set at your other positions to make it worth the trouble.

Fair enough. I have Cam Newton so im set for the forseeable future at QB but I want to draft a young QB for backup in case something happens

if you are just wanting a backup, I say no to Cousins, and see where this next crop of college QBs land in the NFL. With RG3 getting hit so much, 'Skins will probably hold on to Cousins for 1 more season

Also, we've seen a lot of highly regarded backups change teams... recently Kolb, Cassel and Flynn. If the backup's truly good, it's the starter who goes (Favre, Bledsoe, Brees).

If you have a roster spot, then yes, it is worth it.

If you land another QB in the draft next year, you can always drop Cousins at that time.

There is a 0.0 % chance of that. Snyder invested way too much in RG3 and dealing him now would be admitting he was wrong. That will not happen. And yes, this would be Snyder's decision.

OK I guess I can see the logic there but tlance do you think Cousins will be traded?

Cousins is cheap as dirt and signed through 2015, and since RGIII is a risk to miss time the Cousins contract has tremendous value for the Skins. I imagine the only way they would trade Cousins is if they got a very cheap, very good starter at some position in return and had a lot of faith in their third-string QB.

This is different because griffin's just as young as cousins. The rest were on their way out.

True. I actually can't think of a case like this where an effective but risky young starting QB had an effective young backup.

Brees - Rivers is pretty darn close. Brees was what, 26 or 27yrs old when SD decided to make the switch?
Not exactly an older QB on his way out. Late season injury in his contract year didn't do him any favors though.

Brees had five years with the Chargers; Bledsoe had six with the Pats. Monkey's right that that isn't much, but the less-than-two we've seen from RGIII feels like almost nothing.

Maybe the closest example is Vick/Schaub in Atlanta. Schaub looked great as a backup especially in 2005, and Vick had some of the same injury issues and the same high-investment franchise-QB recognition RGIII has. Atlanta held on to Schaub another year and then traded him (oops - Vick was busted a few months later).

The TRich trade does pave the way for a high-draft-pick billboard guy to be traded "prematurely," and the new rookie contract rules make such trades a lot more workable. But I expect RGIII and Cousins to both be in DC next year. After that is another story - I'd only grab Cousins for fantasy purposes if he's the one Washington kept, and the chances of that seem pretty small today. If things tilt even a little toward Cousins in DC some time next year, that's the time to grab him.

Redskins had it a few years ago. Drafted Shuler early out of Tennessee (may have been 1 overall) and had Ferott as a back up.

Many thought Ferott was the better of the two from the begining

Good call, Dcoord; I thought about that one, too, but RGIII is a gazillion times better than Shuler.

Well I've added my 2 cents everywhere else this morning, why not here too?

My guess is about the same as Will's..Both will be in DC next season, with the issue coming to ahead before the 2015 Draft. Snyder would be a fool to deal either of them.
The only possible way one leaves is if a team makes an absolutely absurd offer, and in that case, which is the case for any player in the NFL.. Given the right offer anyone can be traded at anytime. But highly unlikely sometime offers up what it would take given what's happened recently with Kolb and Flynn.

BTW.. Who was the Falcons QB when they dealt Favre to the Pack? ? And in that same breath. .Favre was the starter and they dealt Hasselblah away..If that means a damned thing in this discussion.

If griffin goes anywhere the redskins are retarded, and cousins as a backup is more valuable than a low pick.
