And for good or bad that may be Dan's problem ... he will forever be fan boy instead of a leader at the top.

Yep - unfortunately probably true when he should simply hire the rt folks & just remain in the background. I guess that was the biggest disappointment in firing SM. If they had immediately replaced him w/ another well known GM type it may have been no big deal. Williams is fine in this role assuming that he has true power which I doubt.

SoCal, are you insinuating that BA does not have competent GM powers? :D

Maybe and hopefully, more age behind him than in front of him might temper that fandom a bit.

As a cap guy Bruce is among the better ones in the league. As a GM not so much. In fact (here's a did you know moment) the 2018 NFL draft will be the very first draft where Bruce makes the call. In ever other year he has had help from one hire or the other. In fact, some are now beginning to say that this draft will be Doug Williams draft.

As a lot of you here know I'm NOT a Bruce Allen guy, in fact I was the lone poster calling for his ouster way back in 2012.

I will go on record as saying Bruce has zero to do with this draft. This is Doug Williams and the rest of the scouting department. This is Doug's draft and it is possible that a tie on a certain player/round falls to Bruce & Co. Williams has mentioned on several occasions that our RB group requires an upgrade. Duh, thanks Doug for that news flash. I really think he manipulates either up or down in round 1 to find this teams next true RB.

OK, however, Bruce Allen wears the GM crown. Maybe it's smart on his part to relinquish the actual role and just get paid for his multiple roles, but that would suggest his hiring of a true dedicated GM. I hope that SM was not his first and only attempt to work with a seasoned GM. We'll see!!

This will be a Doug Williams draft if things don't go well. You can bet your bottom dollar that if the draft turns out well, Allen will somehow take credit for it, just as he has for the cap management. In reality, Eric Shaffer is the Cap guru, not Allen. But somehow Allen gets the credit.

Vinny Cerrato. Followed by Bruce Allen.
Lavar was.....until he wasn't. Which is how it kinda goes with Dan. He loves you until he has no more use for you. Then he tosses you like a piece of trash.
