Someone must have really ticked King off - remember the interview from last summer when he talked like he didn't want to be here? Like DC said, this is more than about performance. (although it is possible he dogged it to get released.)
Elway offseason moves were junk. We traded Talib, because we couldn’t “afford him”. And signed a bunch of garbage in his place. At least with Talib, our defense would be dominant from front to back
Pound for pound, King has been the biggest disappointment
I was hoping to see these booming, field position flipping punts that would allow the pass rush to then take over - like the beginning of the Ravens game
While this is disappointing, it's tough to blame Elway -- when King was released, he was considered a Top 3 punter and had the tape to prove it .. The fact that Gruden had not even met with King seemed as if King was being unfairly targeted - so with all the rivalry aspect and the fact that King had been a very good punter, I can;t blame Elway for wanting to get better at the position ..
I agree with DC on this - there's something more going on here
One thing that I hope doesn;t bite us is the fact that Wadman has never played in an NFL game - and I assume in addition to punting duties, he'll be the holder for McManus on FGs
McManus has been perfect, and I hope this change doesn't effect his kicking
Something to keep in mind with this is that King has been dealing with an injury to his groin since OTA's. Sounds like it has gotten worse as the season has progressed. So it wasn't all just because he was sucking at his job and rubbing people the wrong way.
