That is as good as a no trade clause as you can get. $25M per year for 7 years? Even for Felix that is tough for most teams to take on.

I have no problem with this deal. Felix is better than just about every pitcher in baseball. The Dodgers overpaid for Greinke in a big way.

If there's a pitcher that's worth it its Felix.

Verlander, Price & Kershaw should expect close to the same. Kershaw's potential contact makes me quiver.

kershaw(24) could get 200 mil with how young he is....not sure if verlander(29)/price(27) will break 200 mil

well at this clip???? isnt felix getting 25 per for 7 years......just gotta go 8 for 200

yes that is a very long contract but if other teams are willing you gotta match

i think kershaw is the only one that can do it...if he has a good year he will match/pass this offer and be 33 when it expires

Teams should never give contracts long enough to even sniff 200 million

i understand your thinking but no team would be able to keep their superstars or sign free agent superstars if they adopted your way of thinking.

This is absolutely false. Beltre's contract was less than $100m, and he'll almost certainly out perform it. The teams that give out those bloated contracts do so based on what the player has done and the players very rarely live up to the value of those deals. Look at A-Rod, look where pujols is headed. Teams get hurt on those types of deals much more often than they come out ahead.

I was referring to pitchers, no one should ever give pitchers that many years

CBA ought to have a standard team buyout at 40% for year 4, 20% for year 5 and 10% for year 6. That will change player holding out for contracts longer than 3 years.

Would like to see how long the list of players who are performing at or above expectations in year 5 or more of their current contract.
