Kiem reports our coaches might not attend senior bowl

Apparently because we are still trying to put together a coaching staff, our coaches are not expected to make the senior bowl. Kind of strange considering how much help we need, and not having a 1st round pick means we need to concentrate on who we do target in the draft even more.

Where did you hear that? According tho this link the staffs are from the Falcons & Jags. Did something change recently? Also - why in the world would anyone expect a staff that was either assembled a week ago or has yet to be assembled to coach in this game? That is ridiculous. Having the coaches from the Falcons & Jags makes sense since they are the two crappiest teams that were not believed to be making any head coaching changes.

I am sure that the Skins have scouts down there right now. From what I hear - every team is represented & really only cares about scouting players during the practice week.. Once the game starts - a large amt of them have already left town.

I would not waste much time researching it. The link I provided is only a few weeks old, and I have not seen any updates to indicate otherwise. Also - think about it - Shanahan was on the hot seat well before the season ended. Why would the NFL name a coach to this game who very likely would be fired (& ultimately was)? I could not imagine that they would want an ex-NFL coach to oversee these squads.

The two coaches mentioned were most likely the best candidates since both were for not really in jeopardy of being fired & both worked for teams that had no shot at the playoffs even by midseason.

Anyhow - the main thing is that all teams will have scouts at this game or during the practices - including the Redskins.

I think traditionally the 2 worst teams coaches coach the Senior bowl. But since we had a regime change, my guess is they went with Jax instead. Shanahan did find Morris as a sleeper when he coached, although Morris wasn't on his team and he was used exclusively at FB during that game. Shanahan made a point of tracking him down after the game to tell him he was impressed. So there may be some value in up close and personal time with these guys who don't normally get the national coverage.

I could see that time as being a slight advantage. However - if the current Redskins scouts are worth a crap they should be able to get all the info they need during the week leading up to the game (as well as other times beyond this week). I guess the big loser this week is AJ McCarron who won't even be at the game & has been a d-bag in how he handled this while the game is being played in his home town. Too funny.
