I cant see how the Skins didn't counter with wanting a 3rd round pick? 83 overall to be specific. Instead Cle used the 83rd pick to grab Manziel. Geez this almost happened. Did the Skins really think Cousins was worth a 2nd? I do understand that the 4th was too low. I would of traded Cousins for the 83rd pick. Thoughts?

Washington Redskins have plenty of options at No. 34 - ESPN

Maybe they did counter with something?? Taking their 4th would have benefitted the Skins in now way, so it's good that we didn't take that deal. Cleveland could've sweetened the pot a little bit, throw a 6-7th rounder in there.... Something.

They value him at a second because anything less than that and he is more valuable to us as a backup. I'm sure they did counter, CLE just opted to go with a rookie.

In this draft a 3rd would of made the deal. So Cle is now rolling the dice with Manziel. Good Luck with that.

This. Continuity at QB is important and backup QB is more important than many starting roles.

Please do. I am really hoping this foolishness about Mallett goes away. I'd turn down 33 for him.

The latest report is that Mallet is off the table for a trade.

ESPN's Ed Werder stated on SportsCenter Friday that he is "told" Ryan Mallett is "not available" for trade.
The Texans were rumored to be discussing a trade for Mallett with the Patriots on Thursday. So far, nothing has happened on that front, and the buzz has died down. These things tend to be fluid, of course, so we're not ruling out a Mallett trade to Houston, where new coach Bill O'Brien has a history with Mallett from New England, and currently has a pretty glaring quarterback need.

Turn down 33 for Mallett? You are on crack JDM. Maybe not as much crack as the Pats with Easley in the first round over Tuitt, Nix, and Hageman. lol.

He adds more value to this franchise as insurance than anyone on the board adds, and it isn't close.

I'm not a fan of that pick; it feels like Ras-I Dowling to me. But we don't need a DE, so that takes two of your options off the table, and the scouting reports list Hageman as a low motor guy, which never has and never will be OK in a Bill Belichick team.

I get why you did. I'd just really love to see you make the deal because it means we didn't.

Easley was drafted as a 3-4 DE. That's why I brought up Tuitt and Hageman. I cant believe they passed on Nix to take over for Wilfork. #33 pick in this draft is huge. I doubt Houston offered it to the PAts for Mallett.

He was drafted as a defensive tackle. We don't run any one look consistently, so he may on occasion see defensive end looks, but it won't be particularly often. We don't need a defensive end, or have particularly much use from one. Nix also has been inconsistent from a motor perspective. That doesn't fly here.

I don't know if they did or didn't. But if they did bill should have laughed them away from the table.
