The knock wasn't his receiving ability, it was his pass pro skills. Those are still a potential worry, but not enough to keep him off the field.

You say Sanu hasn't proven anything, but what has Bernard proven to this point?

Hawkins is never going to be a feature player because there are tons of weapons there, but he's still IMO more likely to get 50 grabs than Bernard.

I always thought Scott would be that guy but yeah, he's a major disappointment.

There is still a lot to be shown from Dalton that he's going to be able to be that big a playmaker. The receiving totals you are suggesting for Bernard, though, are unrealistic for a while. Sproles is the best receiving RB in the league, and he's getting his catches on a team that constantly, constantly throws the ball. Andy Dalton is no Drew Brees. After Sproles, only one RB had 60 catches last year and that was Ray Rice, who is the undisputed feature back. There is nothing to suggest Marvin Lewis is gonna start throwing the ball nearly enough to get Bernard those sort of receiving numbers.

What has Miller proven to this point if you wanna go that route?

Hawkins caught 51 catches last year, but even Marv said he was way overused. Hawkins won't be used nearly as much.

It is better for a RB if their QB isn't a big playmaker. Dalton is far more likely to check down to a RB than go deep like a guy like Brees or a playmaker QB is. I could see Bernard catching 35-40 balls this year easy.

I like Miller a lot. But I'm not sold that he is a better long term fantasy player than Bernard.

Miller looked very solid last year in the small sample size he had, IMO. He is an explosive runner who is now in a great position.

Where did Marvin say Hawkins was "way overused"? What a shitty thing to say about a player.

I'm not sure where you are getting that point about it being better for a RB to have a non-playmaker QB. When you look at the RBs that have a lot of catches, it's with playmaker QBs for the most part.

I'm honestly not 100% sold that Miller is going to be better, either. It's impossible to tell. All I know is this year, I'm taking him ahead of Bernard, and likely will in 2014.

Hawkins is so small his body broke down as the year went on. He is too small to be used as much as he was. He kept getting dinged up and everything as the year went on.

That still is a weak thing to say about a guy. I'd rather hear "we're going to make an effort to add more bulk to Hawkins this offseason to help him avoid any further injury issues" as opposed to saying you don't want to use him as much.
