Pretty pricey contract... But I def believe he is worth it. I really like JVR, too bad he is in black and orange.

I think this was a very smart move on the Flyers end. It may seem that the money is a bit steep given his performance over the past 2 seasons, but what if he does break out this year puts up 70-80 points? The Flyers would more then likely be giving him a contract more in like with what Patrick Kane got and have it be a $6 mill+ cap hit.

I think we can all agree that we've been waiting for JVR to break out huge and he started to in the playoffs. The best thing for him now is consistent "big" minutes and PP time.

Nice move. I'm done buying jerseys. I thought Richards was a safe bet and apparently it was not. The jersey sill look awesome. Both left and right back shoulder will be filled with his name. Lol

The smart part of this was extending him long term NOW instead of LATER (after he explodes this coming season). This kid is about to do some really big things and that is when you sign a player to a monster extension.

The money does look a little hefty at the moment, but that's only because JvR hasn't really done anything significant yet during the regular season. He's about to. You can trust me on that.

You're right. If JvR has the season we all expect him to have or better, then follows that up year after year, the $4.25 million will be a bargain every single season, especially in the last few years of the deal.

Regardless, you can always shine a good light on this deal by comparing what JvR does in '12/'13 compared to Scotty Hartnell for about the same money. That will be ugly.

i think the annual cap hit per year is actually a good deal for the flyers..it will save them money and cap problems in the long haul..if they had given JVR the same type of deal as giroux, the two of them would have been up for pricey extenstions..this way..in years 3-4-5-6 of the contract, when JVR should be earning 5-5.5 mil, he will be earning about a mil less. makes sense to me. considering he looks to have the makings of an annual 30+ and maybe more goal scorer i see no problem with this.

You're right in that it does look like a pricey contract at first blush, however this is only technically still a 40 point player. He's going to be a 35-40 goal scorer and/or a point per game guy in short order and then $4.25 million is a steal. There's a little risk involved here, but you can trust me when I say that this kid is about to cum all over the fucking place.

Btw: the real fans bought a JvR jersey 2 years ago for the winter classic lol

I'm surprisingly very good with jersey as gags lasted me a long while, briere is still going strong, and now Reemer gets extended.
