we really need to send him down and bring up mazzaro and let wilson figure it out and get back on track for next year. he lost some velocity and accuracy. not as nasty and no intimidation factor like so many times last year.

Not here to defend Wilson, but if your team has a lead in the 8th inning of the first game without the best player in the NL, how do you not go with your best relievers? It was the first game after an off day, everyone in the bullpen should have been available. It was also a one run game, that is just the ideal situation to go with Watson and Melancon, not Hughes and Wilson. Just my $.02.

I agree. Especially when we're in a playoff push and just lost our best player to injury. We have to be sure about every single win.

And tonight we use Watson in the 8th inning with a 4 run lead??????? Confusing, this is a situation I would use Frieri or Wilson in.

Hurdle's terrible at bullpen management. He's a good manager overall, and I'm glad to have him, but he's really got to sort out his bullpen use.

heard that watson wasn't available even after the day off, not sure why.

last nite we only had the one run lead so he got loose, and once he gets loose, hurdle thinks he has to put him in. most teams will have 2 guys get loose so you have options for the next inning, or have another ready arm if watson needs help.

hurdles biggest in game weakness is managing the starters and the relievers.
second area that kills me is his substitution and double switch process.

most of them do, that is why he ones that have better algorithms other than the rote accepted options stand out.
