This would never happen but I was musing over whether the Giants should try a LaRussa-esque move with the lineup and bat the pitcher 8th. My reasoning is our best hitters are the 2-3-4 guys not the typical 3-4-5. So having an actual hitter bat 9th gives Melky (and Panda) a chance to bat them in. And since our 5-6-7 hitters aren't much, the pitcher batting 8th isn't going to see a lot of RBI chances.

Again, just yakking about something that would never happen. Classic rainout topic.

I wouldn't call him a real "hitter", but EB has had a great April. He's slapping singles like it's nobody's business, and he's getting on base. He has some wheels, even if he manages to misuse them from time to time.... I wouldn't mind switching him and the pitcher.

Even better question, if Burris continues to hit well, and Franchez comes back with some thunder, would you bench Crawford and have Burris man SS? Obviously there is a defensive drop off between the two, but he's still light years better than the retirement home we were running out there lat year.

Yeah, just thinking out loud. Burriss-Pagan-Melky-Panda-Posey...

And maybe vs tough lefties they could sit Crawford a few games, right?

I'd platoon the two in a heart beat.

Crawford did the same shit this year as last - Hit good for two weeks, then completely shit the bed. I get that he's learning on the job, but I'm just not seeing how this guy is supposed to become an everyday player.

If Burris is still gaming come mid season, then I'd give him the job. His range is no worse than Hardy, Bonafacio, Aviles, Lowrie, Gonzales or any of the other average SS that came up in trade rumors last year/pre season. And if we're being honest with ourselves, for every good play that Crawford has made, he's had an equally WTF blunder.

Your opinion, doesn't mean I have to agree with it! :croc:

He's made more than half the errors he had last season, and he's barley accumulated 1/5 the innings he played last year. (FWIW, Pretty sure he has not made 4 highlight reel plays)

He's an above average defender, but he's not some GG wizard out there. I'll gladly eat crow if he morphs into Omar, but I'm just not seeing it.
