It makes me laugh every time someone tries to have a serious discussion and brings it up.

That is completely and totally incorrect.

It is a compilation of statisics. To totally disregard it would be just as stupid as it would be to think that it was an actual indicator of how good the QB actually is.

The truth, as is typical, lies somewhere in the middle. It can be a decent measurement tool if you can look at it clearly and disect it for what it is.

Just curious of how you feel about the TQBR rating system that you find over on ESPN? I find it to be a little closer to reality, but it still is not conclusive.

Craperdick's QBR rating is 48. That's where the butt hurt is coming from.

Not at all. Kaepernick's QBR was really high last year if I remember correctly, and I said it was bull shit then. I don't care whose QBR is high and whose is low; it's still bull shit. And stupid, self-important ESPN is trying to give itself some credibility by beating its audience over the head with arbitrary nonsense.

It's not like I would argue Kaepernick's having a good year. He's been a hot poop sandwhich the past couple of games. I don't need a BS ESPN stat to tell me that.

Are people confusing passer rating with ESPN's QBR? Because I find it hard to believe many would be defending QBR.

QBR is just another useless stat like completion percentage.

all stats are, are a way for us fans to argue who is better... without stats we are basing it on unequal things... QBR is a better way to back up your claim than TDs, Pass percentage, yards, interceptions thrown...

QBR is not a statistic. People need to stop calling it one.

Because it isn't?

It's a number ESPN makes up. Statistics record things that actually happened.

JDM, not to argue something as silly as this, but you are wrong... you are thinking of DATA... statistics is what we do with the data... QBR might not be accurate but it definitely is a statistic...

According to QBR, the top 5 QBs of the last 5 years are as follows:

1. Peyton Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Aaron Rodgers
4. Drew Brees
5. Matt Ryan

I'd say it's pretty accurate :noidea:

No. Passer rating is a statistic, because it is acquired using real numbers.

QBR does not have a basis in real numbers. It is made up by ESPN and is subject to every bias every analyst involved has.

Any sort of ranking system based entirely on statistics is bound to be controversial. Just ask the NCAA.

That said, anyone that doesn't think Philip Rivers is the #2 QB in the entire NFL is a moron, so in this case QBR is accurate.

QBR isn't based in statistics, though.

No. Most of the numbers are decided by ESPN analysts. Statistics are objective, QBR is not.
