Your talking to a guy who has Marty very high in hockey legends, one of the reasons i love the sport and the Devils...

So i may be biased in most conversations. Plus i feel more calm and collected knowing Brodeur can handle a puck when its dump in where as Moose i close my eyes half the time.

Moose having the better year easily but i do see the defense playing soft with marty at times... IMO.(not to erase the easy goals he let up)

I don't understand why or if something is going on but they really seem to not show up when Marty is in net.He has played some quality games and made some old school Marty saves but he gets no support

My reasoning is this, when it comes down to it you need the best goalie possible in the playoffs. When they are both at the top of their games, Marty is better than Moose. I love that we have both of them.

Marty stunk the place up to start the season but he has been better lately. We keep saying the team plays better in front of Moose like it's Marty's fault they play like shit in front of him. Do you bench your starting QB because the tight end runs harder when the backup is in? No, you say fuck you tight end get your shit together and play better.

It's not just the team playing better in front of him. Moose has had to make his fair share of big saves at crucial times. Only difference is he makes them this year and marty hasn't

That's what i see too.... could be my imagination but often it looks like that.

Plus Marty(more so) or Moose cant be blamed if Larsson continues to carelessly toss the puck in the middle for the opponent with no devil insight.

I do agree team plays differently in front of Moose. Whether its confidence, or something else, I don't know.

But here is an interesting stat. Marty has played more minutes and more games, yet Moose has more saves and faced more shots. You can't say Moose has breezed through all his games. He makes some huge saves too.

I think a big difference is Moose has been making timely saves this season. Marty seemse to be giving up goals that are timely for the other team. Again, 2nd goal against the Rangers. Completely crushed the team.

Rp that is an amazingly interesting fact. I know moose has relieved Marty what 3x this year? I dont think moose has been yanked yet. Like you said he faced more shots defense still has its normal gaffs and turnovers just that moose makes the saves he has to

You'd have to analyze scoring chances instead of shots. Maybe teams think moose is a weaker goalie so they shoot from anywhere. Maybe the d plays better forcing teams to take more lower risk shots. Who knows.

Marty has always faced fewer more difficult shots. Players have said they dont shot on him unless they know its going in. You dont throw softballs to a HR hitter, they feed off the easy stuff. The easier the shots they hard they are to beat.
