Dare I say that the US is starting to develop talent such that they will be able to compete with Canada on a yearly basis at the junior level (U17, U18, WJ, etc) and eventually at the olympic level? However it should be noted that there was quite a bit of Canadian talent left off the roster and for whatever reason there were hardly and WHL players on the U18 team, Western Canada being where the best junior hockey is played of course.

yes, it should be noted that this is the U-18 tournament, not the doozy World Junior Championships (U-20).
bodes awfully well for US's development of young players though.

just spit-ballin' but i think the reason why Canada doesn't send its best to this tourney is that the best 17 year olds are possibly still active in the CHL playoffs, which are deemed to be more important than the tournament. Kind of like the World Championships that are starting soon - NHL playoffs obviously takes precedent over that.

Yeah, but this also makes three juniors international tournaments the US has won or been in the Finals for in the past year. (Can't remember how the U-17s worked out before the World Juniors.)
