no way do we need him on the team he is on video hitting a woman with a belt pulled over for suspended license improper tags and going to civil court for domestic violence

IM not going to down check a guy for a driving infraction, especially tags or license issues.

As far as the video... I would have to check into what happened.

But reality is it could be a low risk high reward type of deal and give us a year or two to bring Murphy and Smith along. remember that the Saints are still on the hook for his last bonus. So we could get a serious force to pair with Kerrigan on the cheap.

We tried to go the choir boy route and we sucked, I get the whole character issues view point, but in todays NFL you are going to have a few questions on every roster.


Side note, I thought we were in the whole in SMGM we trust mode. If this was really a deal breaker I doubt we would be hosting him for a visit.

At 27 he is still relatively young, and has been productive over the past two seasons. He would come in as a starter opposite Kerrigan and would give us a chance to develop Murphy and Smith... So I think its a bit more than we can get him on the cheap. Its because from a football standpoint he can make our defense better. Much like Dallas taking the chance on Hardy, which is an actual real chance since they signed a suspended player.

Probably true.

Don't want this guy. He's a head case who just threw his teammates under the bus after being released by the Saints. We need another player who can't handle himself on social media like a hole in the head. Not to mention the DV issue, but I honestly don't know the whole story there.

Regardless, I can see the skins signing him if it's on the cheap for a short term deal.

It all depends on how you sign him. The Pats are the masters at this. They take chances on problem players, but structure the contracts in such a way that they can dump them at anytime if their performance or attitude become an issue. This is the only way you take a chance on this guy.

I'm in full support of what ever SM does but this just shows the hypocrisy that is so rampant around pro sports. He preaches only high character guys, then does a complete 180 and shows interest in a low character guy because he has 22 sacks in 2 years.

He hasn't signed him yet. It's also unrealistic to think you are going to have 53 Boy Scouts on your roster.

I'd give him a shot and hope he can stay out of trouble. If it works out I could see Smith adding 10 to 15 lbs over the next two years and replacing Hatcher at DE. I actually think we have a CHANCE to be somewhat competitive this year. I just want the games in November to mean something this year.

Not asking for meaningful December games yet, but this guy could help.

Cmon. Even the top teams & top GMs make mistakes & perhaps err on judgement on certain guys. For starters - let see how this plays out - perhaps the Skins will decide to pass on this guy anyhow when it comes to actually keeping him on a roster. Beyond that - I certainly hope that you are not keeping score to the pt where you will rag on SM for making a few mistakes. The thing that matters is building a good roster overall long term which will in all likelihood involve a few clunkers. HTTR

Dude... Im actually hoping we DO sign him. He would add to the talent base and give us a legit starter across from Kerrigan. As for the alleged off field issues, we have a video from two years ago showing him swinging a belt in the midst of a brawl. And an accusation that was dropped.. oh and a traffic infraction for driving on a suspended.

Bottom line is I havent ragged on the GM for a single move he has made this off season. And i think I trust his judgment if he does in fact sign Galette.
