You may want to review the stats on Winfield. He came up with the Pads, had just as many years with he Pads as he did with he Spanks (granted, one of hose years was his cup o' Joe year), and had, arguably, his bet year in the bigs in SD. Sure, he picked SD primarily due to a feud, but with him, it was clearly a choice between two teams.

Boggs wanted TB purely because they were buying him off. He NEEDED to go in as either a BoSox or a Spank.

I know the Spanks either paid Jackson or offered him some sort of lifetime contract so he would choose them over Oakland. But with him, it was a legit decision between Oak and NY, just like with Winfield it was a legit decision between SD and NY.
