Not surprising although I would have thought the offensive lineman would be a tackle. Cooper is a guard/center. Also, this frees up about $7M in cap space according to Miguel. BB may now go hard after Chris Long.

Good deal for both sides... Chandler was going to command $$$ and is in his contract year. Pats took a flyer out on an oft-injured but talented player (as usual)... and get a 2nd rounder. Looks like a push.

Arizona's defense definitely got an upgrade if Chandler stays off the synthetic weed.

According to WEEI......Patriots will have an additional $5.6M in cap money for 2016. Cooper was the 7th overall pick in the first round. He's a talented right guard. This is Wendell's replacement. The Patriots now have the #60 and #61 picks in the second round of this year's draft. Watch for Belichick to turn the #61 into a first round pick in 2017.

Chandler Jones was going to cost way too much to keep. I guarantee that Kevin Long will be signed to replace him.

I always hate to see talented players leave.
Glad he left with a ring, wish him well and wish he had left with two.

Is this Kevin Long a good player? How does he stack up to Chris Long? :D

Anyone know how much cap room we have? I saw we started free agency with $12.5m. BK said $20m. With the latest moves....where are we?

Chris Long just signed for one year at DE. Gives the Pats time to see if Flowers or Grissom can develop into the third DE spot. Now need to see about Dola. If he doesn't want to take a second pay cut, BB might trade him and sign Nate Washington.

Man, I had the right team, but wrong player..LOL. As much as I like Jones, he is not as important as HT, Collins or Butler. Curious to see the next step. Shocked that Cannon is still on this team. We have the swing interior lineman now, so why is he here? We can use his 4mill.

Long will replace Jones and teach the young kids. Look for NE to extend Sher and give Flowers a chance to be the 2nd guy. Draft just got a whole lot more interesting too...two 2nd and 3rd rd picks now. I expect NE to move up, they have the picks to get up to the top of the 2nd rd now.

I don't think BB is done yet. Still need a few more bodies...

I do have my good days.

Hicks signed with Detroit, Siliga signed with the Seahawks and Jones is traded to the Cards.

Easley and Malcolm Brown will get a chance to show whether or not first round picks were wasted.

Long will work with Flowers and Sher will work with Grissom to be able to rotate in and out.

Acquiring Cooper is a message to Cannon and Fleming that the fuse has been lit and there's an explosion about to happen. With 4 picks in the first 100 look for BB to snag at least 1 OT and possibly 2. This is DL rich draft and a lot of teams will be going defense which will push OL, RB and WR down the list.

Patriots now have 11 picks in the draft. With Dante Scarneccia flying all over the country to work out offensive linemen, you know that the Pats are going to restock the protection for Brady.

All of a sudden the Patriots are becoming exciting and the draft is a month and a half away. I can't wait for Friday......

I still hope BB picks up a veteran free agent at RB and maybe at OT as well. Right now, James Starks seems to be the best available RB that fits the Pat's needs. He has already visited Foxboro but, with the Broncos matching the Phin's offer sheet for CJ Anderson, they may take a run at Starks as well, so BB may need to move quickly. Also, something needs to be done with Amendola and Cannon. They are both reserves but are also #5 and #10 on the salary cap list, accounting for about $11M. A renegotiation for both of them seems to be in the cards.

With Scar back I'm not so worried about Cannon. Amendola needs to be re-worked but I don't think he is going to be over-priced if he tests the market. Not sure his agent would agree with cutting his salary now - at this point of his career.
