Most of the theories I have seen about the Ledger Joker have that as the back story. He was a vet with PTSD and fell through the cracks with the VA.

They probably should've cast someone about fifteen to twenty years younger to match up with that theory. He should probably look about this old, imo:


But ultimately the good part about the Nolan Batman is that his backstory was totally irrelevant. The 'You Know How I Got These Scars' was obviously put in there to make you relate to him just a tad bit until he says it again and you realize that he is just totally nuts.

The Killing Joke was pretty good, and if I remember right, that's how his origin story was in that.

I want it to be good. I think he could really portray Joker really well since he is along the same lines of an actor as Ledger was.

I don't think he has ever really been one dimensional. The Joker is complicated and there has always been a lot of mystery there.

but having a Joker movie without Batman in it is weird because really the one shouldn't exist without the other.
