Pens put Johnson on waivers for buyout - TSN.ca
The Pittsburgh Penguins placed defenceman Jack Johnson on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buyout on Monday. Johnson had three seasons left on his contract at a cap hit of $3.25 million.

Horrible deal to begin with, I remember how it was an eye raiser. But Rutherford drafted him when he was in Carolina, maybe there was some sentiment there but we all know he has been a pretty pedestrian/subpar defender his entire NHL career. But the dude is walking away with a crap ton of cash, that's fitting I suppose for a guy who's parents swindled him earlier this decade and put him into BK.
Best thing he ever did in LA was leave though, Carter was the missing piece and it slotted Voynov where he needed to be.
