"A source tells me that a deal between the San Jose Sharks and the Toronto Maple Leafs involving Tomas Kaberle is 'almost' done. Stay tuned."

Okay I'll speculate. Burke wants a top 6 forward. I'm going to guess he gets Setoguchi & a pick if San Jose is stupid enough to overpay.

If anyone goes it'll be Clowe. I'll believe it when I see it though. I don't think DWil is so insane in the mainframe (yet) that he'll give up Clowe and a pick. Kaberle is definitely not worth it.

Wilson better not trade a top six Guy for a one year rental. Plus he is kind of redundant with Boyle already taking up the #1 role and a nice chunk of cap space.

I really hope Sharks don't trade for Kaberle...

the word on the street is changing (as usual) that it's down to 1 team from east and west, but that apparently what's on the table isn't enough right now for burkie to pull the trigger. of course burke talks like that quite often...throwing other GMs off i suppose.

Burke is the master of the spectacle. Kaberle is maybe the 20th best defenseman in the league, and he's got the media wrapped around his finger like he's about to move Bobby Orr.

This whole NTC doesn't mean jack, you know he's going to be moved at the deadline to a contender.

I wouldn't be surprised if Burke has no intention of trading him right now, and is simply setting precedent for the trade deadline so other GMs know he wants extreme overpayment or Kaberle isn't moving.

Were talking about a defenseman who had 50 or so points & was a -16. I see Kaberle as a powerplay specialist. It seems like Burke simply doesn't realize what other teams do about Kaberle's game.

I think he would be a monster next to the right defensive partner. Shea Weber comes to mind.

burke is amazing at always over hyping his players. Kaberle is a good dman but he is NOT a premier player as he indicated. he wanted way too much for him and now they will lose him for nothing at years end. why would he want to resign there. burke should have just gone prospect and pick.

I don't think Burke wanted to trade Kaberle at all mainly due to the fact that he doesn't want the Leafs to end up sending another lottery pick to the Bruins as part of the Kessel trade. The Leafs may (I stress may) avoid being in the bottom five, but I still predict a top-10 pick going to the Bruins.
