How the heck did Johan Santana only get 2% of the vote and get eliminated from the ballot?!?! I'm not saying he should've made it right away...I'm not even saying he should definitely make the HOF. But there's no way he deserved to be eliminated from the ballot after 1 year...he seriously deserved major consideration to actually make the HOF.

Not to be a Yankee honk, but Jorge Posada getting eliminated from the ballot so fast was even more criminal

I dont see Jorge as a HOFer, but stack his career up to HOF catchers, youd be surprised by how well he compares, and he got kicked off the ballot like immediately

Not sure if I'd put Posada in myself, but he was one of the greatest offensive catchers of all-time. 3.8% is absurd.

He was done by age 33, and had a limited number of peak years.

Agreed, never thought he was a HOFer (and pretty sure he was a juicer), but it was criminal how fast

Check Sandy Koufax. Again, not saying he was as good as him. But Koufax had a short career too and nobody doubts his HOF legitimacy. But by numbers they're somewhat comparable. At least enough to give Santana reasonable HOF consideration.

I understand the argument, and I've seen the comparisons, but times are different. The Hall has gotten bloated.

Agreed. But my main point isn't whether Santana actually got into the Hall or not. The main thing is getting kicked off the ballot in his first year of eligibility.

Santana's not a Hall of Famer IMO but I think he should be on past the 1st ballot.
