This is the last thing our LB corps needed. The big question is, was he intentionally cheating? or was he just stupid and took a supplement not realizing it had a banned substance in it?

I hate to be that pessimistic, but you're probably right. Most likely comes down to money. If you're willing to pay the bucks for the newest designer stuff, you don't get caught. If you cheap out, watch out.

IDK, it very well could be stupidity for a lot of these guys as the latest and greatest supplements are often marketed from here today and gone tomorrow supplement manufacturers. Those type of organizations, usually well funded and just as well marketed, often 'spike' their products to enhance effects to get the best advertising of all, word of mouth. The term 'spike' represents an ingredient that is not listed on the ingredients list as most of you can probably assume. Unfortunately it is not an uncommon practice in the Natural Supplement and Neutraceutical Industries Those types of organizations make there money and then are never heard of again.

I'm not saying this is the scenario for Jo Lonn however it could be and I would hope so, as it clearly is a black eye on the Rams organization either way.

The league as a whole has been getting a black eye but there hasn't been outrage yet

I think there is this notion in the NBA and NFL that purity would lead to a weaker product. I think in an age where they are worrying about head injuries, the NFL has to go pure.

And Im in the minority here but I love good ol 'boring' PED-less baseball and Id still love PED-less football that looked a little bit more like it used to.

As long as we have lil animal, Witherspoon and Ogletree then we should be fine at LB. Heck, we should be GOOD at LB

Witherspoon signed for the minimum with no signing bonus & no guarantees. He didn't stand out against the Browns despite playing with the back-ups and he missed a straight forward tackle. I'm not saying he can't play but I wouldn't place any faith in him until he shows something better. If he looks like a #4 then fair enough. At #5, or #6 on the LB depth chart i'd prefer to have a younger faster guy who can contribute on special teams.

I am not worried about you as your initial posts indicate that you are the kind of folk we like around here. Before posting as you mentioned did you follow the Rams for any length of time? In other words, how long (in total) have you been a Ram fan- 20 years, 30 years, etc.?? Let me know. Thanks.

Excellent. FYI. We have a 50+ club here on the SportsHoopla for those of us who have been Rams fans for 50+ years. There are six of us. I was just asking you about your history so that I could ascertain your eligibility. We recently inducted a new member who satisfied the basic qualifications.

the only problem with that is you can't prove if it was intentional or not.

if a player was taking a supplement that had a banned substance in it and it wasn't listed, you can't ban the guy for life for that.

I'm not saying that is the case with Dunbar. With all these sports stars we thought were clean now coming under fire, you can't trust anyone anymore.
