Bo Nix was our best option last year running the ball. In half the attempts he was only 83 yards off leading the team in rushing. Its a fantastic quality, but you really don't want him as the best option running the ball.

and top 10 ppg
amazing
excited to see what a Payton offense looks like with Nix playing faster and better weapons
stay healthy to key players and this year is going to be so fun to watch.
This is why I think we see Nix progress forward rather than a sophomore slump. The offense is a more complete unit or at least appears to be from where we sit now. Playing opposite a defense that also looks to be more complete than last year's unit and it's hard to not consider this team a contender to end the Chiefs run at the top of the division.

Big issue will be can the Broncos truly hand with the top teams? They played the bad teams great and won the games they should win. I'm not counting the final game of the season, but otherwise the only team they beat with a winning record was Tampa. That is the next step in their growth is now going and winning a couple of those games against the playoff teams.

They definitely need to take that next step and start to stomp opponents into the ground. I have a very good feeling about this year but our division is brutal. 10 to 11 wins, is my guess. If our defense is in the top 3 as projected, I could see 12 wins.

Many have raised this question or some version of it. I think 2024 was a fundamentally good season. First off, I was not sure what to make of our defense. If one takes the time they’d see me voice skepticism and concern that we wouldn’t be that good against the run, we’d lack a credible pass rush, and we’d be middle of the pack in keeping scoring down.

Never happier to be wrong.

I was very high on Nix and the offense though. I even called the 10-7 record and even though it didn’t look like the 10-7 I expected, the Broncos won enough games to lock in a playoff spot.

That’s after the 8-9 finish the season prior, and with a rookie QB and “the worst roster in the NFL” as many considered it before 2024.

So to get 10 wins with only one of them coming against an eventual playoff team and another coming in a glorified pre-season game is still very positive development. Let’s not forget that 2023 team got pushed around on Christmas Eve by a really bad patriots team, essentially ending any hope for a playoff appearance that year.

So instead of losing to bad teams the Broncos beat them in 2024.

Progress from year to year is not always linear but I am confident this team is going to hold its own better this year against the better teams. They added a lot of pieces on both sides of the ball.

It’s hard to expect them to beat the Eagles, though I won’t count them out. And I am not dismissing a single opponent on this schedule. But I see 1 very likely loss and 16 beatable opponents.

Obviously I don’t think they finish 16-1, I’m just saying I think they’ve improved enough they have to be considered a threat every single week.

Both the offense and even the Defense need to take big steps to compete with the teams that are gunning for a super bowl and the FO knows it. Look at the investments they made in the defense. They know the stats were padded against bad teams on both side of the ball, especially on the D side. I do fully expect the defense to be a lot better IF the two big free agent signings are healthy. If not I expect to struggle against good teams again. I also expect the offense to take strides especially if the running game can get going, but that isn't a sure thing and neither is the WR room making strides. They are pretty underwhelming on paper. Lots of potential young talent though.

Hopefully those things happen and the Broncos actually win some games against contenders to take that next step, but in the NFL you just never know until the games are played.
