Ron is smart enough to see where this path will lead, it could be viewed as integrity, not to alter or evolve from your standpoint knowing the end will not be favorable. I perceive it more of a disorder in this case. jmho

Screw this old news……

Ron Brown told it like it is… from his perspective, not from the “U”.
He made a bad decision to use the “U’s” address as his location but other than that, he said what needed to be said. I too agree with his thoughts here and have no problem sharing them as my viewpoint. Don’t like my viewpoint? Piss off… I don’t like the direction our society is heading!

Look, everyone has an opinion and can tell me to piss off too… and I am not going to lose sleep over it…

If he was not in the public’s eye (high profile position), this would not be a story!

The fact is both Ron and ESPN have used Ron’s fame as a way (platform) to get attention. Now from Ron’s perspective, he really doesn’t care if he is fired for his beliefs and his rights to profess his faith to those who care to listen.

Now on ESPN’s reasoning to re-publish old news… well, football season is a long ways away… they had time to kill and needed some additional material to bring attention (listeners, watchers and readers) to them… and by the way, we are picking up some steam in recruiting… so why not…
ESPN has their favorites list too and we are not on it… <-- Nah, I am just kidding…

I would go to war at Ron’s side “ANY DAY”. Better to die for your beliefs and whats right, than to live in shame!

Just adding to my post count…

And nobody is arguing today… so Piss off Jed!

:fencing:

This wasn't just an ESPN thing bringing this up. It has been all over the place. Hell Eric Olson was the one that wrote about it.

Had your average Joe gotten up and said the stupid stuff he said and been fired from his job because of it then it very well could have been a story.

Anyone that thinks it is ok for a group of people to be discriminated against is completely stupid in my opinion.

Christianity is not a persecuted group. They still represent the majority of this country.

"Better to die for your beliefs and whats right, than to live in shame!" I completely agree, but obviously I believe differently than you and Ron.

1. I know it was not just an ESPN thing... but they were the ones who brought it back up... after how many weeks ago that this was already spoken of?

Ron Brown does not have hate for anyone guys... but he is very devote to his beliefs and the teachings in the Bible...

To quote someone else by the name of Jack...

"Ron is certainly strong in his faith, but he’s not a hater of anyone. While I think Ron uses strong language, it’s not hate language. That’s how people antagonistic to his faith manage to read his desire to see people that he cares about deeply turned from ways that he believes lead to less than contentment. It’s actually love that motivates him, but those who don’t embrace his brand of faith see it as hate because he holds to his truth so tenaciously. He has a right to say what he believes just as those who oppose him do.

His hater’s words are more hate-filled than his: “He doesn’t agree with my take on life so he must lose his career and be silenced!” It reminds me of that comedian with the terrorist dummy who wants to silence and kill everyone who crosses his beliefs. It’s political correctness gone amuck. What’s the motivation of either side? Love or hate. Guess which one is the problem?"

Yeah, wanting someone to be discriminated against really shows love for your fellow human. For me at least, it has nothing to do with his religious beliefs. Although if you want to go that direction I can. The bible wants us to love one another and not to judge others. It also talks about laying with another man being wrong. Well should we just pick and choose. The hypocrisy is what I don't like and don't understand.

The comedian analogy is not on point with me either because that is a form of entertainment. Ron Brown is not trying to entertain anyone.

Remember, this was an Omaha ordinance that he was speaking about. He lives in Lincoln. I sure hope he does the same thing in Lincoln when the same ordinance comes to town. Apparently he is weighing his options on speaking out about it again. In other words he is praying about it. Also guessing he put memorial stadium as his address so he didn't get the hate mail at his house. Now I understand protecting your family and all that but if you are going to stand as firm as he does for his beliefs and opinions then don't hide like that while putting your employer in the crosshairs.

Mad Chatter, April 27 | sports.omaha.com

"Like it or not, Brown represents the University of Nebraska, whether he’s wearing red or not. And thus, Nebraska can hold him accountable for his words, especially if those words are inflammatory. (Clarification: Two lawyers have contacted me saying that, because Brown works for a state university, he has first amendment rights that a private employee does not and, thus, it would be difficult to fire him for commenting on matters of public concern at an open public meeting. Which means if Nebraska wanted him out, it would likely have to wait until his contract expires.)"

I think people need to think about what this ordinance actual entails.

It is an existing ordinance that says you can not do certain things to certain groups. These include
deny an individual access to public accommodation (this water fountain is for whites only)
segregate an individual in a place of public accommodation (blacks must sit at the back of the bus)
directly refuse an individual the services, facilities or advantages of a public place of accommodation (blacks not served here)
To advertise that said services, facilities or advantages will be withheld from one based on.....

Amendment included that religious organizations are exempted if the place of public accommodation is owned by a religious organization and is for the use of its members the practices that relate gender identity and sexual orientation do not apply.

So by adding "Sexual orientation and gender identity" to the existing list of groups just what is going to happen that is so harmful to our culture?

Just what is Ron Brown so adamantly objecting to?

I really believe Ron Brown gave Memorial Stadium as his address so he wouldn't have a bunch of fegs rioting at his home. I have yet to see one friggin report of people getting fired in-mass for being homos sans the military. Everyone knows Ben Gray is really Ben Gay - and not the sports rub. Tom Osborne had that real men don't use pron thing a few years ago and no one was bitchin and whinning about that. T.O. can support no pronos publicly on billboards and sum of you sick fuggers can still whack your pappy to it. No harm no foul. :heh:

that is a misconception. not trying to sound like a religious nut or anything, but according to RB's faith, those rules went out when the new testament came about. he would be referring to "Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor catamites, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."

the bolded refers to the ancient Greek for homosexual behavior.

also, us drunkards might want to be a bit worried.

But you don't understand!!!!! The bible says so!!!!! Don't you get it???? ;)

Everyone's life should be run by a book that some dude thousands of years ago made up. Why is so hard to comprehend about that? :pound:
