I have said from the beginning of this mess I would be very happy if the Padres traded both players who were suspended.

What this contract shows is baseball really doesn't care if a player cheats or not.

I was just giving you shit anyway man. Im more than tired of St. Louis' holier than thou stance. And yeah, baseball really doesnt care. Especially if a guy gets caught and just takes his suspension. Like everyone other than ARod and Braun this last go round. (Im sure they actually, secretly, monetarily loved it until Congress got involved back in the day.)

Making fun of STL is kinda played out at this point, right? I feel like the backlash after the Dodgers and Red Sox series was pretty massive and silly.

You say making fun. I say playing the blame game. And, I feel it is NOT fair to blame the Cards for signing Peralta. The Cardinals did nothing wrong, Peralta did. For those who have anger and want to fling it somewhere, blame the MLB rule makers. It was they that decided that a 50 game suspention was all it takes to make everything wrong right again.

Anger is fine. However, mis-directed anger is just stupid and silly.

The Cards are taking a risk, too. If he gets caught again, its a 100 game suspension and that probably isnt something they could survive. MLB needs to take steroids a little more seriously but then again, the NFL's best team has had 7-8 suspensions recently and half of the NBA looks like mutants its all coming down to excitement over purity

Was I making fun? It'll be played out when the franchise and the fanbase realizes that their wholesome, homegrown, low budget roster is none of the above.

STL media didn't help the cause....and a deluded contingent of fans who taut the "Cardinal Way". Worse than Steeler fans.

To be clear I don't blame them for making the move...it's just ironic.

You guys chanting pitchers names in the playoffs like some dorky soccer crowd really made an impression on the baseball world

I'm curious if Matt Carpenter or Kolten Wong can play SS? I'm thinking Matt Carpenter could, since he seems to play everywhere

Wasn't there some rumblings late last year about Wong playing a little SS. From what I have seen from Carpenter it leads me to believe he could also play there. I don't think he really cares where he plays as long as he is playing.

When I think of the Cardinals I think of how Tony LaRussa knew what Canseco & MacGwire were doing in Oakland & wasn't surprised one bit when the Cardinals traded for Big MAC. I just wonder how many guys MacGwire helped during his time in St. Louis. I've never felt the Cardinals were a clean as a whistle organization and never will.

This was pretty simple for the Cards...they needed a SS who can hit. We'll see how the PED thing plays out.

funny the Tigers needed a SS who could play defense, not sure why a Kozma for Peralta trade didn't happen sooner.
