I said all week that if we forced the run against this defense that would be a mistake. Kirk throwing 43 short passes a game is preferred to Kirk being put into 2nd and 9 all night. Then of course we got predictably behind and had no choice. I had no problem with the play calling, major problem with the penalties. I thought all along that playing the starters so little in preseason was a mistake, who knows maybe this was the result
I counted 5 running plays in the first half. Maybe I was off by a run or so, but if a HC is intent on establishing a running game or trying to. He has to run more running plays than 5 or 6 in the first half of a game. Where the most you were down by was 8 points and that didn't happen till late in the 2nd quarter.
The Skin s should've went for it on 4th n 1 on that first drive.
It was also help to treat the RB position as something more than an afterthought throughout the entire FA and preseason period.
This is why those in the building who are so loyal should be fired! Keeping a bunch of backup/ST type players to start on your defense is what it is. (Compton/Foster/Goldston/Hood/Reyes) etc.
