But we are so far behind in addressing the defense over the years that the injuries are really a setback because we lack a lot of depth.

Wolfe - Not playing, unknown when he will return.

Vickerson - Done for the year.

Rahim Moore - Done for the regular season at least, post season up in the air.

Quanteras Smith - Drafted with a torn ACL. I have no idea what his status is.

Ihenacho- Demoted to 2nd string.

Woodyard - Has not been the same since his injury and demoted to 2nd string.

We look vulnerable against the run recently and against the pass over the middle.

I can't remember the last time we contained a pass catching TE successfully.

The defense lacks depth. They don't lack quality starters, but when they are injured, it's getting pretty iffy out there.

I agree depth is the major issue on this team. When we have our starters on the field this can be a top 5 defense pretty easily but unfortunately that has not been the case this season. Champ sounds like he is expected back this week so that will hopefully help some especially with the injury to Webster but we shall see. I'm hoping as well that Woodyard getting some time to rest up before the playoffs that he will be ready to go full strength and play more like the 2012 version of Woodyard than what we have seen over the last 6 games or so.

I thought that the most Jekyll and Hyde aspect of our offense in the SD loss was our inability/unwillingness to try to run the ball. 18-yards after rushing for over 560 the three previous games? I didn't see that coming. Definitely something I hope we fix over the last two weeks heading into the playoffs.

Yeah they abandoned the run very quickly which honestly I thought this would be the game where we ran even more than usual considering Peyton was just 4 days removed from throwing more times in a game than at any other point in his career. Honestly just not sure how much we can read into a Thursday Night game since players have commented about how different it is compared to a Sunday game so anything can happen. We looked about as bad as we have all year and still only loss by 7 so again not going to read too much into any of that.

Throw in the coaches seem a little more preoccupied with trying to figure out different lineups and packages to use especially on defense at this point. They seem to be in complete playoff mode. Just hoping they remember we still have 2 games left and those 2 games have some major implications for playoff seeding at this point. I would rather not have to go to Arrowhead or Gillette in January. From what I understand though this 10 day break to get guys healed up has helped the team tremendously at least from interviews this week. Hopefully that isn't just smoke being blown. Plus if any of you go to Milehighreport at all there is an article about an interview with Terrell Davis with him talking about the problem for the Broncos last year was winning was too easy and that them not losing a late game in the season actually hurt them more than helped because it didn't make them look at what some of their weaknesses were as a team. He said the Super Bowl years those late season losses were huge in helping them prepare for the road ahead in the playoffs.

I'm not putting too much stock into the SD loss and perhaps TD is right that it ends up helping us. We have what figure to be two very winnable road games to lock up HFA. No margin of error after that, so hopefully we get it right over the next few weeks.

We can actually lock up HFA this week with a win and loses by KC and NE (both are playing opponents that can win).

I prefer this, since I assume Manning wouldn't play much in week 17 if the game was meaningless, giving us an extended look at Osweiler.

In the grand scheme of things, since we already have the playoff spot, the only REAL must win games are the 3-4 we will need to win come January/February.

WalkerBoh you are correct. In the NFL right now there really is no right or wrong formula for how to go about winning the Super Bowl when it comes playoff time. The Ravens last year lost 4 out of 5 games in December and looked to be a one and done type team and next thing you know they march through the playoffs to Super Bowl victory.

Now yes I would rather have Home Field throughout the playoffs and get that extra week off to hopefully get a few of our guys healthy but if we have to go through the wild card I would still like our chances as much as any other team. In the NFL when games are decided by 7 points or less over half the time there really isn't much that separates the top teams from the bottom especially when it comes to playoff time.

Honestly right now I just don't even know what to expect from this Bronco team or any other in the AFC. The only thing that has been consistent this year is the inconsistency.

That's a good point. Personally, I think that NE is likely to lose, but I'd be pretty surprised if Indy wins at KC this week. Never know, though.

I will say honestly I would rather that week 17 mean something as players taking what would essentially be 3 weeks off from competitive football in the past has hurt teams as they seem to come out flat. Plus wouldn't want to give those Raiders fans anything to be excited about heading into next year other than having a high draft pick as always.

Yeah. It was estimated that he would not have been ready until closer to the midpoint of the season and being a rookie that could have been a heck of a set back.

Sidenote: Anyone remember Lerentee McCray? I am hoping he comes back next year and provides more depth for the linebackers.

I think we ended up cutting him to make a roster spot for Tavarres King, who ended up leaving anyways. I liked what I saw from McCray in preseason.

McCray is on IR so he is still officially signed by the broncos. He was expected to miss at least the first half of the season so they decided to IR him so they could keep him
