Just Tag Cousins and trade him to the 49ers this team is going to suck next season so don't give this I'll wait and see approach time to do a complete overhaul

Unless they make the playoffs, you are right Last nail on the coffin was this joke of a DC hire. Gruden is a good coach but his personnel decision are a disaster.

Why so many of you all want to believe that without Cousins the team would either take step(s) back or will need to begin a rebuild again is clearly is a reflection of the faith that you do not have in the organization under SM's watch to actually get better. Maybe being a loyal follower of this team has beaten the optimism out of some of you and that's not being fair to yourselves. Get well, fellow posters, it just not that serious.

I already see what's about to happen and playoffs are not in our picture next season time to move on

Let's see, we made the playoffs in 2015 mainly because the division sucked so badly, missed this past season and what EXACTLY led toy into believing that this was a playoff caliber team? We are in a rebuild and truth be told we are not making the progress that too many here want to believe we have. Instead we are exactly where the talent and lack of the same finds us. No more, no less. We need to rebuild the defense, upgrade the offensive line, find a top notch RB and either replace the QB or hope like hell that he can somehow find the mojo that gets himself back to 2015 Red Zone levels. All of this and we still don't have a full staff in place.

Playoffs!!!.......Playoffs??? no sir, we are Average (9-7)!!......Average (8-7-1)!!

This has always been a several year plan according to our GM. First year he made strides and improved the OLine. Second year he added more pieces to the offense by resigning Reed, drafting Jones and Dotson, signing Norman, and trying to resolve the long-term QB situation and give KC a chance to prove himself.

I assume they are going to try and shore up the short-yardage running game, DLine and QB situation this offseason. Regarding the resigning of KC, I think Gruden has a bunch of input. Can he coach or bring in another QB to the system that would perform close to KC's level without breaking the bank? Also they have to figure out how much KC can sign for and what other options are available such as tagging/trading him.

Lot's of directions to go and it should be interesting to see what happens.

If that truly is the case. That would be very interetsting indeed.
Gruden clearly has input, but I'm not sure how much. If it was a bunch, he would have been signed last year.

Yeah, those are more along the lines I was thinking. I was hoping Burnsie would give his opinion as to why he thinks Jay has significant input into retaining/not retaining Cousins though.

Don't recall which poster it was, but he put a very interetsing thought into the atmosphere. That since neither Kirk or Jay were his guys. Scotty Mac wants to eventually get rid of both and bring in his handpicked people.

Which sounds like its a tailor made saga for the soap opera that's the Washington Redskins. Jealous guy purposely blows up what was a good beginning for a team. To bring in his handpicked choices who proceed to promptly shit the bed. Which results in jealous guy and his handpicked choices all getting fired and leaving team worse off than before.

Meanwhile the peeps who jealous guy purposely got rid of in the first place. Are doing good things for the places where they eventually landed.

I'm not so sure that Gruden wasn't the person suggesting to Scott to hold off on signing KC long-term during the offseason last year. He may have felt KC was more a product of the system and the offensive skill targets around him than a top five QB.

If true, then that is different than what he said publicly. At the end of last year, he was touting him as a elite QB and wanted him long term as his qb.

IF thats really what Gruden thought or thinks.... one would have to check his biplor meds since he apparently had to fight the owner just to start Cousins in the first place.

You almost get the feeling this team and fanbase has become so accustomed to the bi-yearly... well what the fuck are we going to do now. That when faced with a costly yet otherwise logical decision.... we have no choice but to overthink it and try to find ways to make shit more difficult than it needs to be.

Please understand I was talking about last off-season, when they decided to franchise him initially. Not what KC did this last season and what Gruden said at the end of the year about his play.

My thoughts on this comes down to, he's not afraid to speak his mind like MS was. Gruden's personality hits me as one where he's has a high tolerance level, but push him the wrong way and he'll get real on an ass, even if he's blasting someone who he calls "Boss". Sorry for stepping on your direct question to @Burnsie.

Who else but the office contrarian?:D

True on Gruden not being afriad to speak his mind when he has had enough. He's gotten real a couple times and you could tell he was upset.

That was you, Sty. You crafty devil you.

No need to apologize, I'm down with pretty much anyone answering a question I ask. It can even be a bullshit, fucked up, or ass backwards answer if its funny.
