Where would we play him? SLB? DE?

It's a terrible fit. So, we'll probably sign him

I'm assuming SLB on 1st and 2nd and then at DE on 3rd with Dunlap moving inside with Atkins?

Can't be worse than Maualuga who isn't a fit anywhere.

Sign him.

If he's visiting the Bengals, he must have no other options.

I wouldn't say that. Back to back playoffs, a very young team, outlook is optimistic for playoffs again this year, and he gets to stick it to Pittsburgh twice a year for just releasing him.

With that said, I could think of several more options better than Harrison that wouldn't bring as much baggage.

Some chatter on twitter think he's a better fit than we are thinking.

Good against the run, good pass rusher. Essentially a pretty good SLB in this defense since he would never be on the field in the Nickel.

Agree he's a terrible fit, but I'd sign him just for the blatant/cheap hit on Roethlisberger you know would be coming.

He is probably being paid by Pittsburgh still, this way he talks the Bengals into signing him, and makes fouls at the worst possible time against Pittsburgh to hand them both games during the regular season.

It would be worth signing him just to line him up twice at Roethlisberger and tell him "kill, James!!!"

Then there's the possibility, though, that he's a Steelers' spy planted into the Bengals to destroy them from within. (I know, paranoid, but he's been the enemy for so damned long.)

If you put any stock in PFF numbers, the man can still play. He only had a +2.9 rating for the season, but he was a +8.7 after week 10 as he got healthier. He was a +23.1 in 2011, even though he missed three games. The PFF numbers back up Tubbs' assessment that he played strong against the run, too. I say sign his ass and pick his pea brain for Steelers' secrets.

This looks like it could really happen as the Bengals are meeting with him again this weekend after having him in for a visit on Thursday. I honestly think its a good signing. This team, though stocked with many young and talented players, lack a leader. It lacks that fiery, take-no-prisoners Field General that can Will a team to a win much like Ray Lewis did in Baltimore. He knows what it takes to successful and if he can be a positive influence on Rey Maualuga or Vontaze Burfict in the LB meetings, film sessions and the locker room then I'm all for his signing! My only question is, does this signal an end to Andre Smith as a Bengal since the money it would take to sign him was probably the money they set aside to re-sign Smith.

excerpt~

Ian Rapoport reports that that there’s a “high level of mutual interest” between both the Bengals and free agent LB James Harrison.

Rapoport adds that contract discussions could “ramp up” over the weekend, as the two sides are scheduled to meet again.

Ian Rapoport reports that the Bengals “liked what they heard” from Harrison during his visit on Wednesday, but no deal is imminent at this point in time.

Harrison reportedly talked with Bengals’ LBs coach Paul Guenther until midnight.
Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that free agent LB James Harrison will be visiting with the Bengals on Thursday.

NFL Trade Rumors - Report: Bengals Have A "High Level" Of Interest In James Harrison NFL Trade Rumors - |

It reads like an episode of reality television. Two players visited with the Cincinnati Bengals this week: Karlos Dansby and James Harrison. However, the team only plans to sign one free agent. And based on the fact that Harrison is meeting with the Bengals again this weekend, it looks like he's the one who will end up getting "that final rose."

There's no secret that Harrison would like to stay in the AFC North, where he's terrorized opponents for many years. And given the high level of interest in acquiring his services from both the Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens, you'd have to believe that, since they've seen Harrison with their own eyes more than any other teams, the linebacker still has what it takes to be an impact player in this league.

It would not be surprising to see a contract in place before Harrison leaves Ohio, but it's likely to be a one-year deal. After all, these reality show relationships rarely last.

If they sign Harrison, you can be assured Rey Maualuga will be the starting MLB.
