YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Always wanted Lou to sign Jagr cause the guy has been such a great player. But the key to this is, the guy is STILL one of the better players in this league. He can STILL get it done! He will be the first guy to the practice facility and the last to leave. This will set a great standard for our younger players. F you Kovy! Our PP is gonna be awesome, I agree! I am now officially excited about this season. Best news ever, thanks, Cup!
At this point what is the harm? He'll probably be absolutely shot by the end of the year, with the olympics and all, but he's probably my non favorite Devil of all time so I'll take it. Again, if he's used properly, meaning we limit his minutes and mainly use him on the PP, he can still put up points.
One thing that should be interesting is now that Kovy isn't on the PP, will they mix it up rather than feed it to Kovy (not that that's the worst strategy).
Its gonna be a really different looking team come opening night but this signing excites me. Guys that score 25 and add in 30 assists dont grow on trees. More then solid for a 1 year deal.
The back to backs and olympics are the only thing that worries me but I think Jagr has proven his ability to stay healthy and in shape..you dont play a sport like hockey at 41 but being a lazy bastard.
Now lets just resign Henrique and bring in Brunner and drop the puck!
he was probably option 1 but for whatever reason talks broke down and the devils went with jagr.
hes the pros with this deal
its 1 year. if devils in the hunt then its obviously working out
if devils are out of it ship him for a 2nd or 3rd rounder or a prospect.
gives a little juice for the season and hopes of a better pp
love looking at a high # on a devils jersey it will sell a lot of jerseys
biggest pro of all which makes this deal BETTER then brunner. hes gone after this year when next summer the ufa class will be a lot better hopefully. brunner probably wants a multi year deal and is unproven at this point. he would be on the books for 3 years. pretty alarming that no one else is really banging down this guys door to get him.
i really hope that he takes some games off i would really like to see him play in 60? games
Id hope that Brunner is still in the picture..I like the way our lines look with the exception of the Tedenby/Olesk spot most likely on the third line.
Brunner at 2.5 per year would be a steal with some decent upside. Only question is would he accept that offer? The money he's asking for is probably the reason he remains unsigned.
But he could get some PP time and he's very good on the shootout too.
I think we will be ok guys. This team has added some nice talent. We have our Home Grown players to watch like Henrique and Zajac. I see us being a 5 or 6th seed. Nothing wrong with that. I agree next year is the year.
