And Hayley? Not that I think he 'deserves' anything, no cheap shots from him. Martin only getting 4? That's...wow. This clearly shows that suspensions are merely based on the result of the action, not the intent or the actual action.

Another beef I have with suspensions (in general) is that they seem to focus merely on repeat offenders. Sure, they should be punished harshly, but when some guy takes his first cheap shot and only gets 2 games and another guy takes his tenth, but it's not nearly as bad as the other guys first, he'll get 10 games. Exaggeration I know, but they seem to use this as a crutch any time someone thinks they've gotten off easy.

Luckily what Martin did didn't end anyone's career or end up on Oprah, but if you throw a few "ifs" into the equation we could have another Bertuzzi incident, like puck pointed out. So yeah, four games seems a little weak.

I didn't think Konopka had left the bench. I was surprised he was interviewed. My guess is Campbell was fishing for anything he could find. After all it's the Islanders.

that's a no-no, but there's some wiggle room on intent, timing of altercation, etc.

Why the heck do we have to WORK up to a higher number? All that means is you're going to continue to be inconsistent as you work your way to higher numbers for the same types of hits. Just prove a point, and when it happens again you have that number to work with. Plain and simple, there needs to be a better system, and I think we all agree to that.

Pfft, more than half the changes were followed by or during altercations. I see no issue with that.

I mean, if we compare their job to other jobs, a week of suspended pay, or at least a stern talking to by the boss is in order. I think that if most people performed that poorly at their jobs they'd be in trouble.
