Are they still building (or planning to build) an arena in Brooklyn?

Yes, it's called the Barclays Center and it's currently being built only for the Nets.

From what I understand, they scrapped the design for that one that would have properly fit NHL hockey.

Though it sounds like that may not matter based on the Mangano press release, which, given that the Nassau County Exec. is the one holding the presser, seems to indicate that either a new arena or the huge renovation project talked about a few years back may be coming.

Okay from what I understand Mangano is proposing a 400 million dollar referendum. This vote could take place as early as this summer. Whether it passes could depend on turnout. We all know people don't want more taxes. So this will be interesting. On the Isles fan site Mangano might be on the radio with Francessa today. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say tomorrow during the press conference.

The BIG VOTE will take place on August 1st. Apparently this won't cost the taxpayers anything it's all bonds. However that isn't what some members of the media are saying. The 400 million would be spent on a Sports & Entertainment Complex.

Anybody who doesn't think Wang knows what he's doing doesn't have a clue. This vote date is set up perfectly for him. If this gets voted down Wang will make a presentation for a development in Willetts Point. I have no idea where that is, but my guess is it's nowhere near Nassau County.
