Lol... The 'natural reaction', is to get out of the way. But, not many here would admit that. Doesn't really lend to the storyline they want.

it was intentional and well warranted :) When you run that far out of bounds, you're D-U-N. Pushed out or not, if you're beyond that white area, you're finished for the play. Either fight to stay in the field of play or don't and get what's coming to you.

No, it isn't.

And he had no right to expect him to. Stay on the field of play.

Like I said, you shouldn't be able to push people out of bounds that do not have the ball to begin with. Then these events no longer happen.

Since when??? The boundary has been used to an advantage in almost every sport I can think of.

Yawn.......

So if you're watching the action and at the last minute you see some idiot about to run into you, you're going to move? Because I guarantee you more people put a forearm to his throat than hurt themselves diving out of the way.

Yes, you should. He is blocking your guy and your guy did poorly at his job and let him. It is his fault he is out of bounds and it is his responsibility to come back into play. Anything that happens to him while he is out of bounds is on him.

Stay in bounds and this doesn't happen. I do find it funny how Seahawk fans call us the 40whiners, yet they post this.

Ummmmm.......what???
The only person in this who says anything close to "40whiners" in this thread is not a Seahawks fan.
C'mon RV. You know better than that.

As far as players going out of bounds, I agree that you make it a penalty if you push the player out and also make it a penalty if they run that far out (it is already a penalty if they do not re-establish themselves on the field) and this problem goes away.

I don't buy the lean as evidence. If you are about to run into me, I'm going to brace myself which means leaning forward a bit.

I think only the guy knows 1 way or another.

Exactly how is any of it whining? Oh yeah, anything that goes against your team must be whining right?

Clearly it didn't cost us a game. All it did was show how dirty your team is.

Now if you want to talk whining we can bring up some of the gems by your fans and compare notes if you like.

Because you guys posted it on your board whining about it, and then in that thread they said bring it to the main board and see what they think. Seattle fans wanted a huge fine, suspension, and a loss of draft picks for that. It didn't happen and you guys are mad about it.

As long as you're within the legal contact area why not? As a WR, coverage guy, etc. it's your job to get free of the defender and run a route, or get down field to cover. The defender's job is to re-route you or take you out of coverage and knocking you out of bounds is fair game.

It's too difficult to enforce because all you're going to have is guys "flopping" by letting themselves get blocked out of bounds to draw a flag.

The refs already have enough trouble making subjective calls like roughing the passer or defenseless receiver that I could imagine the uproar when a punt return TD is called back because some gunner let himself get blocked out of bounds.

These kinds of things happen so rarely in the grand scheme of things there really isn't a need for any rule changes. If the number of people going out of bounds and colliding with guys there increases you than look at it but I consider this more of an isolated incident.

It is whining because not only were you all talking about this on your own board and getting upset that the 49ers didn't get penalized for this but then decided you wanted to feel even more justified trying to take it to the general board. Yet then when someone disagrees with you all you do is throw a fit wondering how any of us could think this play was ok.

The pushing the player out of bounds has been around since the game first started. Very rarely does a player collide with somebody on the sideline so there is no reason to all of a sudden change the rules for a play that happens maybe once every few years. Throw in the coach or whoever it was was within the legal area they are allowed to be and if he doesn't want to move he doesn't have to. Considering how fast everything was happening instincts kick in. A person has 3 reactions when something like that happens. The first is FLIGHT--where they run to get out of the way of danger. The second is FIGHT--the person holds there ground and decides to fight. The third is just sheer panic where the person can't make a decision one way or the other causing them to not make a decision at all. This person's instinct was to fight which among football players my guess is this is the more common instinct.

Looks like a good old school hit to me. Maybe he led with the helmet but I don't have a problem with that.

Hey now, IM THE ONE who is the OP here. I said, Seahawks fans think it was intentional, niner fans think it was an accident. I wanted neutral eyes on it so I posted it.

Go through all three pages, this is the second time I posted on this thread. Im not arguing any of the oppinions, im not whining. It's not my fault some niners/hawks fans cant help but be at each others throats.

I wanted an unbias thought on it and this thread has given me it.....but its now turned into a troll fest. So mods feel free to lock it down if you want.

That is fine...feels like to me more of a we want people to support our side of things so I am going to post it on the general board and hope for that. The fact that so many Seahawk fans are fighting back against anybody that disagrees with them to me shows that at least some were hoping this would justify them and their thoughts and from what I can tell most think it was fine.

It just feels like a mountain is being made out of a mole hill here with this one play that really wasn't that big of a deal in my opinion.
