Is it time to give up on Lincecum?

Just wondering because man is he inconsistent. Right now he is 3-3 with an ERA of 4.70

The top options I can currently replace him with are De La Rosa, Hudson, Marquis, Bud Norris, Wandy Rodriguez, and Bronson Arroyo

I wouldn't replace him with any of those guys....His k/9 is still over 9 and his peripherals suggest his ERA is artificially high......He walks too many guys for my liking but that is a personal preference on my part.....

You might try and trade him for someone else of similar skillset but off to an equally unimpressive start....ie a Brandon Morrow type guy if you really feel you need to move on.....

I personally would probably just stick with Timmay though as he pitches in a great park and plays for a good team so even when he doesn't pitch great, has a better chance to still occasionally get a "win".....

I owned Lincecum 3 years ago, before he was terrible. The decline has already begun though, and I swore I would never own him again because I was so frustrated.

If you already have him though, you would have to pick up somebody pretty good to make that drop. I wouldn't say that he is a must own, but like Driaz says, he has a lot more upside than anyone on that list.

Is Tim Hudson really that bad these days? I haven't paid that much attention to him. Or is this Daniel Hudson?

Funny, he was the only guy that immediately stood out as well.....I think they are very similar pitchers at this point, with Lincecum getting the nod in k's and Tim Hudson giving a little better whip due to lower amount of walks....They are both very inconsistent at this point though.....either could give you a gem and both are going to give you atrocious starts at times.....

You could go with Hudson if you wanted to but I still think Lincecum is the slightly better option.....

I'd keep sticking with Lincecum. Nobody on that list screams consistency, so the only thing you'd be doing is giving away K's for potential in WHIP. That being said, I don't think I'd be starting him in Colorado... in fact I know I wouldn't.

There has to be someone that is willing to take a chance on him. Put him on the block, and if it's enough, take the best offer... but I wouldn't drop him for said players.

As bad as Tim Hudson's numbers are his FIP is 3.97 and his xFIP is 3.75, suggesting he's had some bad luck and those numbers should improve.
